I was told that when you are vegan, then your acne goes away and your hair and skin looks amazing.
What causes this to happen?
is it because you are no longer eating meat or dairy?

Well I was told by the company that Acne Free does not test on animals and that their stearic acid is plant based.
However that made me break out more after 3 months.
Try natural products for your face, skin, and hair. Try the Body Shop or products from J/A/S/O/N i love their products, all natural and vegan/
actually i’m not 100 positive about the body shop, they say all natural which would lead you to believe vegan but try looking it up. but i do love J/A/S/O/N they say vegan!
yes, I’ve never seen a vegan with acne. However, I heard Tonya Kay who is a professional dancer did have acne on a regular vegan diet, but it vanished after switching to a raw vegan diet so I’m not quite sure.
I know someone whose skin cleared a bit after he became vegetarian, but I have also heard dairy contributes to acne heavily.
you dont just have to be a vegan to get heatlhy skin and hair its all about what you should eat and what you should avoid like oily foods of course your gonna get a yuck face but ive never heard tht you get good skin by being a vegan…interesting..
Okay, I’m not sure this is entirely true. As is so often the case, a simple fact of a few Vegans looking healthier than their meat eating counterparts has been generalised.
However, I know that the vegan diet contains no cholesterol whatsoever and that has got to be a good start. Also, because most vegans eat more fruit and vegetables than their meat eating counterparts, this will have an impact on their general health. Also, because vegans have to be very conscious about nutrition they are also likely to be more conscious about how they treat their body in general and steer clear of drinking too much, smoking at all etc. All these things contribute to a lifestyle that is rich in antioxidants, low in toxins and therefore some have amazing looking skin and hair.
I have to say my hair is pretty good, my skin is a whole different issue, but I rarely get spots, I just happen to have a hereditary skin disease which has nothing to do with what I eat or how I live.
Anyway, key is, if you want to go vegan, do it for the right moral reasons, not just so you can have amazing hair and skin because it might not happen for you.
Being vegan helps with the hormones in animal foods and greasy foods but there are still vegans with acne. A lot of people I know have terrible skin because they buy into advertising. Creams do not belong on the face. Neither do harsh or scented soaps. Washing the face daily with the mildest soap possible or water only will definitely help the delicate skin stay healthy. Also, makeup should be for special occasions. Wearing makeup all the time clogs pores, prevents the face from breathing, and risks reactions to chemicals found in the product.
I would not say its an instant thing. Dairy, especially cheese, has a lot of oil in it that can cause your hair and face to become very oily, thus making you hair look like crap as making you break out if you eat to much of it. My acne has gonna away and my hair is a lot less oily since I went vegan, I have noticed.
Yes, because I am no longer eating meat and dairy.
Humans are not designed to consume meat and diary, and our bodies have a hard time with trying to deal with it. Acne is one of the results.
After becoming vegan, my acne of many years went away in about a week or two (was on my face, neck, back, ears, shoulders, and often on my legs too). Gone forever.
But, if I eat some greasy deep fried foods or foods with l lots of white sugar… it starts to come back in little bumps on my forehead, but gone the next day. Nothing as bad as before.
Dairy is apparently the main cause of acne. The fat in dairy and meat comes out in your skin.. For certain skin types it really comes out a lot, for others, not very much. For myself, whenever I eat something with fat or oil in it, it comes right out in my skin… I get oily all over, including my hair and face.
This person believes that it’s the hormones in dairy that causes the over stimulation of the oil glands on our skin.

But, I’m vegan, and when I consume any oils, it seems to come right out in my skin… but, actually, it doesn’t cause acne, only deep fried or cooked oils do this, raw flax or hemp or olive do not cause any acne for me, but my skin does get oily, but it seems to be in a good way, especially in the winter, so I usually add more oil to my diet in the winter to keep my skin and lips from drying out.
My hair really started to look and feel so much better when I stopped washing it so much (and switched to natural shampoo – Nature Clean brand – no colours, perfume, nothing), and allowed my natural oils to condition my hair. I wash it with just water and maybe once a week with the shampoo. Otherwise, washing it more just dries it out and removes too much of the natural oils. An acquaintance of mine said his ex-girlfriend stopped shampooing her long hair and just brushed it and allowed the natural oils to condition her hair. Her hair looked horrible for a little while but eventually it just looked and felt so silky smooth and he said it smelled wonderful too.
So, for me, I cut out meat and dairy at the same time, and my acne was gone. Sugar and cooked oils (cooked extra virgin olive oils is good for stir frying, it can take the heat) seem to bring it back, and I’m sure if I ate sugary and oily foods daily, I’d have acne again. Lots of exercise and drinking lots of water also helps a lot. Sweating helps to keep your skin clean.
I don’t know exactly why, but from personal experience –
*yes my acne got better
*my hair is slightly worse though, but that’s due to no longer using hair products tested on animals or with animal ingredients (and it’s hard to find a good shampoo & conditioner that’s vegan at a decent price)
*my skin is a bit better
