Contrary to what you may have heard, acne is not caused by dirty skin, eating chocolate, or drinking lots of soda. Acne is caused by overactive oil glands in the skin and an accumulation of oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria, which leads to inflammation in pores.
Oil glands become stimulated when hormones become active during puberty, which is why people are likely to get acne in their teens. Because the tendency to develop acne is partly genetic, if other people in your family had (or have) acne, you may be more likely to develop it too.
Although there is no surefire way to prevent acne, try these tips to help reduce the number and severity of your breakouts:
•Washing your skin is essential (it helps remove excess surface oils and dead skin cells that can clog your pores), but washing too much can actually cause damage by overdrying your skin or irritating existing acne.
•Remember to wash after exercising because sweat can clog your pores and make your acne worse. If you work around greasy food or oil or if you’ve been sweating from heat or because you’ve been working hard, wash your face and other acne-prone areas as soon as possible.
•If you use skin products, such as lotions or makeup, look for ones that are noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic, which means that they don’t clog pores.
•If you can’t live without your hair spray or styling gel, be sure to keep them away from your face as much as possible. Many hair products contain oils that can make acne worse.
•If you get acne on areas such as your chest or back, avoid wearing tight clothes, which can rub and cause irritation

The usual… excess oil and dirt.
But a LOT of acne is genetic. Only antibiotics can help. It sucks. I wash my face twice a day without fail with antibacterial solutions and I still have acne. I haven’t tried the pills yet though, but apparently they worked well on my brother.
Acne Comes When You Eat Too Much Sugar,Chocolate,Saturated fats.
And Also Harmones.
THE BEST WAY TO GET RID OF IT IS TO EAT HEALTHY. Dont Make The Mistake That I Did. I Wasted Too Much Money On Products That Do Not Even Work. And If IT Works It Would Come Back Quickly.
Try Eating Apples, Drink 10 Big Bottles Of Water A Day. THIS WILL HELP IF YOU FOLLOW EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD YOU
lots of things cause acne sometimes something thats on your hand gives it to you when you touch your face or its genetic or even your hormones so lots of stuff causes acne
there is not really an answer for preventing acne also it really depends on your skin type and stuff
Well someone has mentioned what causes acne so I shall provide what I do. I still get some break outs but they don’t come in mass packs so I like that better than the gazillion taking up one inch of my face.
Tie your hair back in a low ponytail every night because hair is oily and pull your hair back. Don’t sleep on your sides because the head weighs about 7-8 lbs which is a lot of weight being pushed on one side of your face. I have a habit of sleeping on my right side so I have more pimples there. Change your pillow cases often.
I don’t really use OTC stuff that much. I use honey and mix it with salt till it’s too thick to drip and I spread it on my face. Wait five minutes and then dab your fingers in warm water and just rub the salt and honey into your face like an exfoliate. Other days I just get honey and put it on my face and leave it there for a while. It can be for ten minutes or some hours as long as it’s not too hot for it to drip. And then just wash it off. I usually do that after I shower and it helps make your face less read, softer, and it helps with less pimples. It kind of like speeds up the process of the pimple. Really the only OTC products I use are an occasional face mask and moisturizer. You’re going to just experiment with which moisturizer works best for you. If I have sunblock on my face then I use Dove soap to wash it off but I’m going to try put it in my daily regime. I heard the Dove Sensitive Skin bar soap work well but some people say it’s bad and it clogs pores but I’ll take a risk. All I’m going to get is some pimples and I already have them.
Also drink a lot of water. A lot, a lot, a lot. It really helps. And if your pimples pop put some Vaseline on it. It’s like healing a cut which means less scarring.
