Hi,
I just got home from my dermatologist appointment. After trying many different acne medications she has now given me a prescription for accutane. Unfortunately, I get very anxious when around needles. I try to convince myself that I would rather get one little needle than become very ill. The only problem with that is then I panic before it gets done. About a day before, I get very anxious and I am not able to control my actions or emotions. The last few times I have gotten needles of any kind I have had breakdowns. I know this sounds silly, but I try my best to control my nerves. One of my friends suggested taking anti-anxiety medications before I get the blood test.
–Will anti-anxiety medications interfere with my blood test results?
Thanks!

My skin used to be quite oily when I was a teenager, and I took Accutane to cure the unmanageable acne I suffered from. I am in my late 20′s now and have been noticing an increase in the oiliness of my skin, as well as pesky breakouts, mostly on my jawline, hairline and chin. For about 5 years, my skin was normal to dry. I have been on the same birth control for 6 years, which I know can effect your skin. Does anyone have any good ideas for cures/prevention for someone my age?

A more severe form of acne is called cystic pimples. It forms like the basic type of acne but it will develop into a cyst that is from the build up of a puss like substance in the pores and infection and can be rather painful. Cystic pimples are not a true cyst but what is called a nodule and will form on or below the surface of the skin..

The nodules need to be treated as soon as possible to increase the chance of getting rid of them with the least amount of scarring. If they are in the beginning stages a topical medicated cream and antibiotics can be tried otherwise more aggressive treatment may be required.. When they are finally gone some degree of scarring will occur, mild scars can disappear within six months but worse scars may need medical treatment to get rid of.

Someone who has a family history of acne may expect to also have acne in their teen years and cystic acne is mostly predominant in teens, adults are not so susceptible to this type of acne. It is now said that diet is not a real factor in getting acne, they now say it’s the family history, environment and a matter of skin care. Except for cystic pimples where a diet that is rich in fat with lack of fruits and vegetables may lead to nodules.

So look at your diet and try to make it more healthy by eating more vegetables, fruits and reduce as much junk food as possible. Do not forget to drink lots of water to help flush out the toxins.

Acne medications act by lessening oil production, stepping up skin cell turnover, combating bacterial infection, lessening the inflammation or performing all four. With prescription of acne medication, you can not witness results for four to eight weeks, and your skin might worsen before it recovers.

Your doctor or dermatologist can suggest a prescription medication you use to your skin or take by mouth. Oral prescription medications for acne ought to not be applied throughout pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester.

There are some treatment alternatives for acne. The majority alternatives lessen or prevent new lesions and take minimally 8 weeks to make results. An essential target of acne treatment is to prevent or reduce scarring. Certain treatment regimens will be different from person to person, dependent on acne harshness and forbearance to the medication.

Whereas acne can vary from mild to severe, acne treatments diverge too, dependent on how critical the trouble is. The fundamental treatment is to get rid of what is plugging the duct of the gland and, if needed, eradicate the acne bacteria. This is completed either by utilizing a product to the skin or by getting medication internally. A treatment employed to the skin is called a topical medication; treatment adopted on the inside is called systemic medication.

The most uncomplicated treatment for acne is the daily usage of usual soap and water. Several topical medications are obtainable over the counter with no a prescription. They include medicated soaps, salicylic acid ointments and washes, and benzoyl peroxide.

Systemic medications are obtainable simply with a prescription from a doctor. They can include antibiotics (for instance tetracycline and erythromycin) that attack the acne bacteria; vitamin A products called retinoids; or hormonal agents, consist of several oral contraceptives, for example Alesse® and Tri-Cyclen®.

In severe conditions, an oral medication called isotretinoin (Accutane) can be given. This is very effective, but side effects might comprise serious birth defects, alterations in blood fats and cholesterols, and mood changes. On account of these side effects, Accutane is typically utilized merely for patients with severe acne, or, in patients who have failed all other treatments.
