I am on anti-depresants, anxiety meds, A.D.D. meds, acne medicine, pain killers for my shoulder, sleeping pills, birth control, and antibiotics because I’m just getting over a virus. I am only 17 and it seems like instead of being a good parent my mom just pumps me full of drugs and calls it good. I grew up in a house where it is yes mam or no mam, yes sir or no sir, so I am not capable or allowed really to tell her about it but I’m losing my mind.

I’ve tried everything for cystic acne except estrongen-dominant birth control pills and Accutane, the latter which I refuse to try because my cousin had such a horrible experience with it.
I’ve gone the homeopathic route now. I’m taking two capsules of apple cider vingear three times a day and also putting the ACV on my face, back and chest directly in the morning and at night after washing.
I am cutting out dairy, too. Is there anything else I should be doing?

My skin used to be quite oily when I was a teenager, and I took Accutane to cure the unmanageable acne I suffered from. I am in my late 20’s now and have been noticing an increase in the oiliness of my skin, as well as pesky breakouts, mostly on my jawline, hairline and chin. For about 5 years, my skin was normal to dry. I have been on the same birth control for 6 years, which I know can effect your skin. Does anyone have any good ideas for cures/prevention for someone my age?

I have been taking 50mg of Adderall XR every day for about three years. I read somewhere that taking Adderall for a long period of time causes acne. Is it possible that I am unaffected by this? Or is there still a chance that I could develop severe acne due to Adderall? Also, if I do develop it, is it just going to get worse and worse until I stop taking Adderall altogether or what?

I started taking Yaz in Dec. 2006. Since that time, I’ve experienced a multitude of strange symptoms: anxiety, palpitations, extreme fatigue, lumps in breasts, painful breasts, cystic acne, heartburn, swollen lymph nodes. I connected these symptoms with Yaz, because I never had any problems of this kind before I started taking it. I seem to have something new every day, and it is driving me crazy.

I’m about to start taking ortho-cept (desogen) birth control tomorrow and i’m a little nervous.. after reading up on it a bit i’ve heard read a lot of bad experiences people had (acne problems, weight gain, mood swings, anxiety.)
anyone ever taken it? what was your experience like? did you suffer from any of those side effects?

I’m not pregnant. I drink water all day long, everything I use is oil free, and I keep my hands away from my face. I’ve tried everything. Proactive, Accutane, and every other lotion, cream, and vitamin from the dermatologist. If I take prenatal vitamins, will it help clear up my acne? I’m desperate

I’ve been taking minocycline for acne for over a year. I’ve never had horrendous skin, but I get at least one cystic pimple a week along with a few everywhere else. I also have two topical medications that I use. I take impeccable and consistent care of my skin, yet my skin is never fully clear. Is this the best my skin is going to get with minocycline or should I be seeing better results than this?

A more severe form of acne is called cystic pimples. It forms like the basic type of acne but it will develop into a cyst that is from the build up of a puss like substance in the pores and infection and can be rather painful. Cystic pimples are not a true cyst but what is called a nodule and will form on or below the surface of the skin..
The nodules need to be treated as soon as possible to increase the chance of getting rid of them with the least amount of scarring. If they are in the beginning stages a topical medicated cream and antibiotics can be tried otherwise more aggressive treatment may be required.. When they are finally gone some degree of scarring will occur, mild scars can disappear within six months but worse scars may need medical treatment to get rid of.
