I was on minovral 21′s for 13 years. I am 26 years old and never had any medical problems during that time. I went off in August and now, in March have not had my period yet, not even any spotting. I have been pretty miserable besides that with a bunch of weird symptoms that I had never had before including: heartburn, indigestion, bloating, pressure in my chest, night sweats, hot flashes, insomnia, and anxiety, lack of ANY sex drive, acne….
Wondering if any or all of these could be linked to me coming off those pills?
ps, have been doing regular pregnacy tests so I’m defenitly not preggers!!

If you are not in the medical field or studying medicine or have not experienced these symptoms as well, then please don’t give your input. If you know someone that has had these symptoms, that is acceptable, I am willing to hear anyones opinion except from those that have no idea what they are talking about or have something nasty to say.
I have a long list of symptoms; I am not a hypochondriac; I don’t have insurance so I can’t see a doctor about it right now.
I have nearly all the symptoms of Lupus and Cushings Disease, but my previous doctor last year dismissed my concerns and diagnosed me with Poly cystic Ovarian Disease, Fibromyalgia, and Hepatitis B. My PCOS diagnoses was just him saying he’s sure I have that because of some symptoms. I had blood work and my ovaries came back just fine, yet I was still diagnosed with PCOS anyway.
Ok, symptoms: Daily fatigue, awful back and shoulder pain, upper body obesity, a rounded face, increased fat around the neck, and relatively slender arms and legs, bruises easily, and heals poorly., never developed breasts, no period for over a year (I’m 25), thinning hair on scalp, but hirotism (excessive body hair), stomach discomfort, urine smells very strong of ammonia without signs that it’s a UTI. Dark circles under my eyes, excessive thirst, bright red cheeks, diagnosed with osteoperosis I’m 25!!! skin problems including frequent acne around my chin (I never had acne as a teen), Depression & Anxiety, Keratosis Pilaris on my upper arms (the excess production of keratin, creates a goose-bump appearance), boils and bumps on butt, now a rash on my butt! I know I sound disgusting, but please don’t make me feel worse than I already do about myself. Please help me out if you are familiar with these problems… I’m sure I have other problems that I’m not contributing to the list, so if you want to ask if I have other symptoms, please ask and I will answer asap.
Thank you both for your responses, however – I have already been tested numerous times for thyroid problems and they function very well. As for diabeties, my fasting glycemia level is 79-80, so I’m nowhere near diabeties, I’m closer to hypoglycemia, but not that either. As for meningitus, I was also tested for that a while ago and that was negative. I have Hep B. so that could explain a liver problem, since Hep B eats at your liver when in flare. I was told to keep an eye on a stomach rash or soreness around the liver, which I don’t have. So I’m not concerned about a liver problem right now. Anyone else have any ideas?
My BMI is high, it’s 27. I am just below obesity, which really sucks. I used to be very thin and active – age 20/21 I was 80lbs lighter and much more active. Over 5 years I have gained 80lbs and pain has overwhelmed me to the point where I am not as active. I play with my son and I am a postal worker – so I get mild/moderate exercise, but at the end of the day, I’m wiped out and in pain. For osteo – I consume a lot of Vit D and normally take supplements. Lupus, I was unaware of the plastics! I am constantly drinking from plastic bottles and cans without washing. I only run my fruits & veggies under a cold tap for maybe 30 seconds before consuming… so I guess that’s bad. Steroids, I can’t recall ever taking any – but it’s possible.

…however I am at my wits end because I know this isn’t the only problem. I have had anxiety and OCD for years and have been on Paxil since I was 17 (and am now 28). Several months back, I started having tingling and numbness, and my regular doctor figured it was the Paxil causing it, so she changed me to Lexapro. That didn’t work well and she switched me to Zoloft. Too much switching of meds caused some serious issues and I had to be hospitalized. I noticed at this point that I was having bouts of high blood pressure (it was 158/90 one time at the doctor’s office). I am healthy, young and very slender, so this was odd. I eventually was put back on Paxil and felt better, but a couple months ago the issues started again with numbness. I visited a neurologist who said nothing is wrong with me, however now the high bloog pressure is back. Other symptoms I have noticed are acne (I have NEVER had this), excess hair growth, irregular menses… Could this be interrelated somehow?

For the last 2 months I have been extremely stressed at work, long hours etc..I started getting mouth ulcers, an acne type rash on my face, short of breath , a pounding heart on waking up and dizziness and sheer exhasution in the evenings. I have had every test hiv, lupus etc all negative and my bloodwork is fine. Doctors say it is anxiety/stress/depression related. I have been feeling low and the worry about my health is worsening things, but can they be right? By the way I dont drink/smoke do drugs and am not on anything except vitamins.

I also had blood work done afterward but never told my doctor about what happened so i don’t believe he tested me for HIV

Acne Introduction

Acne is a skin disorder resulting from the action of hormones on the skin’s oil glands (sebaceous glands) which leads to plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and outbreaks of cysts or nodules commonly called pimples and they may occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Most of the teenagers are affected by the acne. However, the disease is not restricted to any age group; adults in their 20s – even into their 40s – can get acne. Being not a life threatening health condition, acne is still upsetting and disfiguring as sometimes it leads to permanent and serious scarring. Even less severe cases leads to scarring.

Acne Symptoms

There are two main types of acne: non-inflammatory and inflammatory.

In non-inflammatory acne, there are usually just a few whiteheads and blackheads on the face.

With inflammatory acne, the whiteheads become inflamed, and pimples and pustules develop. In its most severe form, inflammatory acne can cause disfiguring cysts and deep, pitting scars of the face, neck, back and chest.

Acne Causes

The main cause of acne is a devitalized condition of the skin resulting from unhygienic living habits. Other causes of acne are excessive use of tea, coffee, alcohol or tobacco, strenuous studies, masturbation and sedentary habits which lead to indigestion and general debility.

Acne Treatment – Home remedies for Acne

1.	Apply orange peel pounded well with water to the affected area.

2.	Apply Cucumber leaves or grated pieces for acne cure. One of the effective home remedies for acne.

3.	Rub the affected area with a fresh cut clove of garlic.

4.	Apply clove based face mask or a paste of Fenugreek (Methi ) leaves overnight on acne and wash off next morning.

5.	The lemon has also proved beneficial in removing pimples and acne. It can be applied regularly.

6.	Grind the bark of neem and turmeric (haldi) together in water. Rub the paste on the affected parts. One of the best home remedies for acne.

7.	Rub a piece of sandalwood on a clean stone, using a little of rose water or cucumber juice to make a paste. This pack will give a fresh feeling and will discourage acne. One of the popular home remedies for acne.

8.	Rub jaiphal nut with sandal powder and unboiled milk and apply the paste on the acne. Wash after one hour. Do this regularly till you get 100% results.

9.	Mashed papaya applied on the face helps clear scars and marks on the skin.

10.	A teaspoonful of coriander juice, mixed with a pinch of turmeric powder, is another effective home remedy for pimples and blackheads. The mixture should be applied to the face after thoroughly washing it, every night before retiring. One of the useful home remedies for acne.

11.	The juice of raw potatoes has also proved useful in clearing skin blemishes. This cleansing results from high content of potassium, sulphur, phosphorus and chlorine in the potato. One of the effective home remedies for acne

12.	In nature cure, the main emphasis is on diet and certain water applications.

13. A Multani Mitti pack is an effective way to control pimples.

14. A spoonful of honey mixed with rose water can be taken daily. One of the well liked home remedies for acne.

15. Any sulphur soap can be used to wash the acne face daily.

Acne Prevention

1.	Regularly clean the skin.

2.	Have a well-balanced, regular diet. Emphasis should be on foods rich in fibre such as raw foods, especially fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouted seeds, raw nuts and whole grain cereals, especially millet and brown rice to prevent constipation, the main cause of acne.

3.	To keep the face pores open light steam should be given once a week.

4.	Drink at least 1 liter of water a day to impart a healthy glow to the skin.

5.	Starchy, protein and fatty foods should be restricted.

6.	Meats, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, refined and processed foods should be avoided.

Cleaning methods to be followed for acne skin

1.	Apply a suitable home made face pack and keep it for 10-15 minutes.

2.	Remove the pack and blot the residue with a cold, wet towel.

3.	Moisten a piece of cotton with an antiseptic lotion and touch each every pimple or acne.

4.	Antibiotic lotions can also be applied after cleaning the face.

In all cases of skin problems high standards of personal hygiene, balanced diet, congenial environs, gay and happy mood will go along way in preventing acne and quick recovery.

Acne scars are scars that are left behind after a person has had acne. There are two types of acne scars. Pitted scars happen when the underlying skin tissue has been damaged. Pigmented scars (either red or brown) are marks left behind after the acne has cleared up.

It is best to use an acne scar treatment as soon as possible after the scars appear.

After an acne lesion has healed, it can leave a red or hyperpigmented mark on the skin. This is actually not a scar, but rather a post-inflammatory change. The redness or hyperpigmentation is seen as the skin goes through its healing and remodeling process, which takes approximately 6-12 months. If no more acne lesions develop in that area, the skin can heal normally. Any color change or skin defect still present after 1 year is considered to be a permanent defect or scar.

Causes of Acne Scars

In the simplest terms, scars form at the site of an injury to tissue. They are the visible reminders of injury and tissue repair. In the case of acne, the injury is caused by the bodyâ??s inflammatory response to sebum, bacteria and dead cells in the plugged sebaceous follicle. Two types of true scars exist, as discussed later: (1) depressed areas such as ice-pick scars, and (2) raised thickened tissue such as keloids.

Acne Scar Treatment

So you’ve followed our tips on combating acne and your skin is blemish free, but now you’re left with red or brown spots or your skin appears to be pitted. There are two ways to deal with acne scars. The easier option is prevention. Most acne scars are caused by the type of acne known as cysts. These are painful, red bumps underneath the skin. If you pop this type of blemish it is more than likely that you will develop a scar. Even though it may be uncomfortable, you need to use the right treatments and let your skin heal.

If you have done your best to treat your acne and you still end up with scars, it is not the end of the world. Pigmented scars are red or brown marks left behind after an acne blemish has disappeared. Pitted scarring is a result of damage to underlying skin tissue. There are ways to plump up and repair that tissue. Pigmented scarring is the most common and while it is not permanent, it can take weeks or months for it to clear. This news may make you want to run and hide under a rock, but don’t worry there is hope for your damaged skin.

Surgical Treatment

Subcision is a process used to treat deep rolling scars left behind by acne or other skin diseases. Essentially the process involves separating the skin tissue in the affected area from the deeper scar tissue. This allows the blood to pool under the affected area, eventually causing the deep rolling scar to level off with the rest of the skin area. Once the skin has leveled, treatments such as laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion or chemical peels can be used to smooth out the scarred tissue.

What are the causes of teenage acne and how to get rid of acne that is linked to puberty?

Teenage acne is bad news. Not only is it painful but its implications can be devastating too. In fact, teenage acne has been known to have a deep social, intellectual and emotional impact on the young person.

What worries most people about teenage acne is not the scars on the face (which anyways occurs), but its psychological impacts that may severely downgrade the self esteem of an individual. It can be so bad that the entire personality of the person changes and he carries the emotional scars even after becoming an adult, these are the psychological marks of teenage acne that has a far greater impact than the physical blemishes.

I know because I have suffered from teenage acne, it lasted for 13 years and it had a great negative impact on my intellectual and emotional growth. The impact changed me. I began to spend time alone with shame and out of fear and guilt too. And due to this, I can say that the acne deprived me of a normal teenage experience. I was finally able to come out of this after I found a cure which was possible only after 7 years of research and personal experimentation. And now I can say that I have finally been able to get rid of the acne problem. But the best news is, the acne has not returned and my skin today is great.

So go ahead and read this report to find out why people have teenage acne, what the role of the parents are, and how you can permanently solve this problem.

Learn about the symptoms and the theories of teenage acne

Blackheads, whiteheads, lesions that appear like boils, cysts and large pimples, teenage acne may appear in many types. And the severity of the outbreaks may also differ. In cases of a moderate outbreak, there are just a few growths on the back, chest or the face. However when the case is severe, then there are cysts that appear big and sore, and they come up all over the body. It looks bad.

Somehow more number of males seems to be affected by severe teenage acne than females. In males, the affected regions are also frequently the back and the chest.

But what causes teenage acne – well, there are many thoughts on this one. There are those who would say that the culprit is the hair follicles that get blocked. Then there are those who blame the genes. Another thought blames the body`s mechanism (the immunity) of fighting the acne bacteria. Some other popular causes include sudden increase in hormones or decrease in nutrients. Even the environmental lifestyle factors have been blamed for teenage acne.

Having done research on the subject for 7 years now, I now know what really causes the problem and so I can differentiate the real reasons from the false theories. This learning I have acquired through years of research, experimentation and trial and error. And now I have the answer that helps me beat acne.

So what really causes teenage acne?

The acne is not something that is temporary and so it is important to find out the causes. In truth, the real causes of teenage acne, no matter whether it is casual or severe, remain deep within the human body. To fight teenage acne, you will need to find an answer to these causes. Just treating the symptoms and neglecting the root causes never help, but this is the mistake many make. That is why OTC medications, antibiotics and other conventional drugs do not work. Though the symptoms go away, but the cause remains within the body and so the teenage acne returns.

When the body produces more hormones than it can deactivate and expel it can lead to an imbalance and this can lead to teenage acne. In some cases the body begins to make more oil and this prompts the acne too. The growths may also appear due to the buildup of toxins in the blood and lymph.

There is just one way you can treat teenage acne and this is by eradicating the causes that are making the lesions to appear.

Teenage Acne: what can the parents do?

The role of the parents is always crucial because of the deep social and emotional impact that teenage acne can have. Each person needs to be understood and should be carefully and thoughtfully handled. Proper understanding is very important here.

Never ever make your child believe that you think that he or she needs to be blamed for the teenage acne that the person has. This will only worsen the issue. A better approach would be to show empathy and hold your patience and help the person come out of his dreadful condition.

Do make an attempt to feel the pain he or she is going through. Make the person understand that you are with him or her and that the child is still regarded highly, spend some time together, and talking is important here.

No one likes to suffer from teenage acne and so finding a cure is crucial because otherwise there can be a negative impact on the social and intellectual growth. Make them feel confident that you are always there to help them fight the condition and move on in life. Show them that you care by showing your own research on the subject.

Fight teenage acne successfully

Though there are quite a few remedies all around us, such as antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, conventional drugs and even steroids, but the truth is, just one works. In fact many of these remedies actually worsen the condition as they come with side effects. The real causes are all internal and they need to be taken on to beat teenage acne. Just treating the external symptoms will never work as they are just manifestations.

All the factors of teenage acne can be successfully treated only through the holistic approach, and this treatment gives permanent results too. The approach here is to take on both the internal as well as the external factors. With the holistic approach you can not only get rid of teenage acne, but also improve your health by fighting other diseases that occur from hormonal imbalances such as kidney problems, hair loss. With the teenage acne gone, the person can go out there and have a great emotional, social and intellectual life.

Acne

Acne is a red, irritating skin rash primarily affecting teenagers and young adults. It can, however, occur at all ages. Typical acne appears in the oil-producing areas of the body—namely, the face, chest, and back. Acne can also occur on the neck and upper arms.

The surface of the skin has lots of small sebaceous glands just below the surface. These glands make an oily substance called serum that keeps the skin smooth and supple. Tiny pores (holes in the skin) allow the serum to come to the skin surface. Hairs also grow through these pores.

Cause Of Acne

Food: All over the world, parents tell teens to avoid pizza, chocolate, greasy and fried foods, and junk food. While these foods may not be good for overall health, they don’t cause acne or make it worse.

Dirt: Some individuals have more “oily” skin than others (as mentioned above, “Blackheads” are oxidized oil, not dirt). Sweat does not cause acne, therefore, it is not necessary to shower instantly after exercise for fear that sweat will clog pores. On the other hand, excessive washing can dry and irritate the skin.

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia, polytheistic ovary syndrome, and other endocrine disorders with excess androgens may trigger the development of acne vulgaris.
Acne vulgaris may also be influenced by genetic factors.

Symptoms Of Acne

The main symptoms are spots that range from tiny, painless whiteheads to large, angry red cysts filled with serum and pus. Scarring may leave discolored pitting of the skin.
With inflammatory acne, the whiteheads become inflamed, and red pimples and pustules develop. In its most severe form, inflammatory acne can cause disfiguring cysts and deep, pitting scars of the face, neck, back, chest and groin. Prescription drugs and sometimes surgery are needed to treat inflammatory acne.

Prevention

Get a nonprescription acne medicine and apply regularly. Over-the-counter drugs containing sulfur, resorcinol, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide, are all effective for treating mild acne.
Don’t over-wash. Since dirt is not causing your acne, excessive scrubbing and washing won’t make it go away. Try to limit yourself to two washings per day — anything more than that can leave your healthy skin dry, and your acne-prone areas irritated. Habitual over-washing may also stimulate extra oil production, which could result in more breakouts.

Treatment Of Acne

If you have itchy acne, try taking Kali bromatum 6X three times daily until you notice an improvement.

Herbal Remedies For Acne

Raw potatoes contain potassium, sulfur, phosphorus & protein. The enzymes in raw potato pulp combined with its vitamin c content & natural starch are a natural skin food. The alkaline nature of the juices is an antiseptic. The acid portion of the pulp helps remove decaying or dead skin. Applications of its juicy pulp (grated or shredded) as poultice, clears skin blemishes, melts away wrinkles, banishes age spots, helps prevents boils, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads & gives a glowing & youthful look to the skin.

Radish seeds contain a bleaching agent and its emulsion prepared with water applied over the face will remove blackheads & freckles. Radish leaves crushed & applied as a poultice also help in the process. Grated white radish & its water makes an excellent astringent and bleaching agent for a fairer complexion.

Feline acne is a common problem seen in cats. It is found on the cat’s chin & lips. It is generally accepted that this is caused by plastic bowls and for many cats the solution is simply substituting the plastic bowl for a stainless steel bowl or a glass bowl. The problem may be caused by the inability of the cat to clean his chin properly after drinking the milk resulting in a nutrient rich habitat for bacteria. Several factors appear to be associated with its development including stress, a suppressed immune system, poor grooming habits, the presence of other diseases, contact or atopic dermatitis, and skin conditions in which abnormal amounts of oils are produced.

Causes

The exact cause of feline acne is not known, but several factors appear to be associated with its development including stress, a suppressed immune system, poor grooming habits, the presence of other diseases, contact or atopic dermatitis, and skin conditions in which abnormal amounts of oils are produced and the hair follicles do not function properly.

Dirt – Cats generally have trouble grooming the chin area and because of this, dirt and oil tend to accumulate in this particular area of the face. The accumulation of bacteria causes hair follicles to be infected and eventually, acne breaks out.

Food Allergies – In spite of what you see in cartoons, cats do not possess the same diet that humans have. So don’t feed your cat human food. It’s important that you give your pet the food he truly needs.

Signs of Feline Acne:

Various signs of feline acne can be seen on the chin of the cat and they are:-

·	Hair loss, draining tracts and swelling develops on the chin in case of severe feline acne.

·	Multiple comedones develop on the lips and chin of the cats which looks like dirty. These comedones appear as small abscesses which remain open and form the crusts.

·	It can be itchy.

·	Secondary bacterial infections can develop.

Feline Acne Treatment:

Sometimes, supplementation with fatty acids is beneficial in this type of treatment. Retin-A can be used but it can be applied very rare as it can leads to irritation. Oral retinoid therapy and teratogenic can be given to treat the feline acne in cats. Any underlying conditions such as ringworm, a Demodex infestation, or a yeast infection should be treated appropriately.

Investigating the cause of the acne is also recommended. Acne can arise because of an allergic reaction to plastic food bowls, developing because of bacteria and dirt that can build up within scratches on the surface of the dish. Switching to ceramic, glass or stainless steel dishes may clear up acne for some cats, and washing the catâ??s dishes every day can keep them clean and safe to use. Persians and other cats with flat faces seem to be more prone to feline acne, and cleaning their chins after they eat may help prevent skin problems.

Back Acne Treatment and Prevention Tips

1. Wash the back with an anti-bacterial cleanser formulated for the face.

2. Use a salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide treatment for back acne.

3. Wear cotton clothing and use powder to keep your back dry.

4. Always wear clean clothes, bras and T-shirts when working out.
