Question by Aimy: Should I stop using a topical acne medication if my face has become dry?
Lately I have been using topical acne treatment where the main parts of my acne were (T-zone), and after about a week of using the medication, the acne has significantly cleared up. Even though, every time I wash my face I can see that the places where I used the medication have become dry and somewhat flakey. Seeing this I used a acne-preventing moisturizer and that helps during the day but my skin is still dry after I wash it. Should I still continue this routine?

Best answer:

Answer by AsianxDoll
same thing happened to me! only dab some on your problem areas, like don’t put any on your cheeks or something if there’s no breakouts there. but if it continues to be dry, stop using it for a few days and just use moisturizer after washing your face.

Obviously I know people will be concerned, and of course I’m aware of them, I’m taking action, right?
I think I suffer from something called Dermatillomania, although luckily it is not as severe as picking of the hands and legs, etc.
I would really appreciate a list of great advice, techniques, help, prevention, how to cover up minor acne scarring, brown spots (dried pimple areas), and other things like that.
People think that this can just go away, all it takes is power, but like any addiction, it’s really hard to let go fully.

I would most likely choose a best answer with a lot of information.
A LOT.
I will not takes “i don’t know, stop!” or a paragraph of common sense type answers.
Obviously I could have and did do that on my own.
Be creative, encouraging and gracious with your answers.

Thank you so much for your time.

I am 14 years old, and I have been getting horrible acne. My horrible habit is that I keep picking at it! No matter how hard I try I can’t stop picking. I don’t even realize when i am doing it! My face looks just horrible, but I love the feeling I get when I start picking! I know that if I keep picking I will get scars and it just is horrible, BUT I JUST CAN’T SEEM TO STOP NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY! I am using acne products, but do you guys have any ideas of what I can do to relax myself instead of picking? Something my hands can do? I have tried some things like playing with my hands and distracting myself with other activities in school, but it still doesn’t STOP ME!

P.S. I think I pick so much, because I have had problems with anxiety, I don’t know if this will help, thanks!

I get these inflamed, little red cyst on my back and butt, that leave hyperpigmentation marks when they heal. I went to a dermatologist but they only give you something to heal the cyst you already have. Time the cyst heals I have another one to deal with. This acne is having a real psychological effect on me.

The main cause of acne is a bad diet that can lead to an oily type of skin. There are several other reason for having oily skin and one of them is an improper wash or you might not be cleansing your face regularly. If you’re trying to get rid of oily skin and cure acne completely then you should follow all the steps below for guaranteed and everlasting results.

1) The first thing that you need to do is to ensure that you keep your skin clean by washing it at least twice a day. Some doctors recommend the use of glycerin soaps that can give you a much clearer and oil free skin.

2) Always wash your face with warm water a mild-soap or face wash and cleanse your face regularly with a special acne cleanser. Take at least one shower daily remove all the dust and oil from your skin and keep yourself hydrated enough,

3) Women should avoid using make-up or at least use special make-up for acne. Always use power based cosmetics instead of the ones based of liquid. There are several companies that produce special make-up for patients that suffer from acne and help them dry the excess the oil on their face and keep the pores from clogging all the time.

4) Plants such as Aloe Vera can do wonders for acne. Aloe helps in absorbing all the excess oils on your skin and make it dry. Use Aloe Vera based products such as your shampoo, soap or shower gel. You can also apply pure Aloe Vera gel on your affected areas of the face.

5) Another great solution for acne is witch hazel, lemon juice and apple cinder vinegar that can help your skin in several ways. They all have antibacterial properties but they will also help you remove all the excess oil and dirt from your skin.

Several other solutions for acne are available, all you need is to do a deeper research for cures that work. There is no reason to spend lots of money on therapies, medications or acne solutions when you can find an all natural solution that can be more effective, cheaper, with no side-effects and not only but ever lasting which is exactly what you’re looking for.

You can always use a natural acne cure to clear you skin.

Natural treatments have been proven to be a lot more effective to cure acne.

Are you still using drugs and creams made from chemicals that simply don’t work? Do you know that these chemicals only give temporary results and there are ways to get rid of your acne pimples problems permanently? Knowing the cause of a problem is a problem half-solved. Acne skin condition is caused by the following: clogging of the hair pores, very oily skin, bacteria, hormonal imbalances, build up of toxins in the body and more.

Acne pimples keep coming back, even after several acne treatments, because creams and lotions only mask the symptoms and not the main cause of the problem. What you need is an acne remedy that would attack both the root cause and the symptoms of acne.

To solve your acne problem, here are a few tested natural acne remedies:

• Chose the correct make-up: do not use oil-based makeup
• Drink lots of water (at least 8 glasses daily), so as to flush out the toxins from your body system
• Do not squeeze a pimple: because the bacteria released spreads all over the face causing more breakouts leading to permanent scarring. But if you must do it, use a sterilized needle and apply an antibiotic cream when you finish
• Choose the right diet: more fruits, vegetables and lots of water are usually advised by dermatologists. Remember, drinking lots water flushes out the toxins in your body system!

These steps can be very useful, but following a natural program will eliminate the underlying cause of your skin problem.

Did you know the best way to totally erase acne pimples from your skin is by using a double combination acne treatment like AcneZine? Using a double combination acne treatment combats the acne problem both on the surface of the skin and inside the body is an excellent acne remedy that is guaranteed to totally wipe off acne from your skin.

Another excellent way to get rid of acne from your skin completely is by using a holistic acne skin care plan like that of the Acne No More system. Click here to discover the fastest and easiest way to remove acne skin condition using either AcneZine System or Acne No More System.

Adults the world over are dying to find adult acne treatments that will finally put an end to their embarrassing breakouts. I mean, only teens are supposed to get pimples, right? We shouldn’t have to deal with this stuff anymore.

The sad truth is that most people don’t realize that acne can happen to anyone and you can even get it even if you didn’t have it as a teen. The problem with most adult acne treatments is that they’re only made so you keep buying the product. None of them is really a cure because they all only deal with your acne symptoms and absolutely ignore your acne problems that are actually caused by problems that begin inside of your body.

Let’s rewind a little bit. Most doctors today will tell you the typical acne story: clogged hair follicle, bacteria, sebum, yadda yadaa. Most of them ever fail to mention a single thing about improper diet or unhealthy living. They’ll flat out deny there is a connection between things like that and acne despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

I don’t understand why they’re so resistant to the idea of an adult acne treatment that doesn’t involve slathering tons of chemicals on your face. Maybe they really do get lots of kickbacks from the drug companies.

For whatever the reason, though, you must realize that acne is in fact cause by internal problems in your body. Everything that happens on your skin is secondary; it’s merely the sign that you have to fix what’s going on inside. Adult acne treatments that focus on this problem will definitely make you clear because you’ll finally begin treating what’s really wrong with you.

There’s nothing fancy when it comes to adult acne treatments. All it takes is a little bit of knowledge and realizing that the chemicals the drug companies keep pumping out will never do anything for you in the long run.

So what can you do? What are the adult acne treatments to get you clear? Well, as I said, acne is an internal problem. It’s not something that just appeared overnight. Just the same way you have to eat right and exercise to lose weight, you have to do the same thing to stop your acne.

Once you realize that typical adult acne treatments only deal with your acne symptoms, you can begin a treatment regimen that will deal with the real problems. Stop throwing your money away each month on those expensive creams that only make your face itchy and simply eat right, exercise, and have a proper mindset.

Acne affects almost everyone — more than 90% of all adolescents, nearly 50% of all adult women and 25% of all adults. Crossing gender lines as well as national borders, it’s one of the most widespread medical conditions in the world. Yet there’s still no cure.

But there is hope. While acne is not curable, it is treatable. We now know more about controlling this condition than ever before. The secret to managing acne is prevention — stopping this condition before it exhibits visual symptoms. Once you have found an acne treatment that helps you accomplish this, it’s important to stick with it. Even after pimples disappear, you may need to continue treatment to keep new blemishes at bay. It’s also crucial to begin treatment as soon as the first signs appear; the sooner you address your acne, the less likely you are to experience permanent damage to your skin. Of course, in order to stop acne, we must first find out how it starts.

What causes acne? One of the most important things you can learn about acne is this:

It’s not your fault. Contrary to popular belief, acne is not caused by anything you’re doing — what you eat, how often you wash your face or work out — but by a combination of factors at work far beneath the surface of your skin.

A healthy follicle
A blemish begins approximately 2-3 weeks before it appears on your skin’s surface. It starts in your sebaceous hair follicles — the tiny holes commonly called pores. Deep within each follicle, your sebaceous glands are working to produce sebum, the oil that keeps your skin moist and pliable. As your skin renews itself, the old cells die, mix with your skin’s natural oils, and are sloughed off. Under normal circumstances, these cells are shed gradually, making room for fresh new skin.

But sloughing is different for everyone. Some people shed cells evenly; some don’t. Uneven shedding causes dead cells to become sticky, clumping together to form a plug — much like a cork in a bottle. This plug, or comedo, traps oil and bacteria inside the follicle.

A plugged follicle
The plug traps oil and bacteria within the follicle, which begins to swell as your skin continues its normal oil production. Your body then attacks the bacteria with a busy swarm of white blood cells. The whole process takes 2-3 weeks, culminating in a pimple.

An inflamed acne lesion
Why me? There is no one simple “cause” of acne — the condition is influenced by many factors, many which are out of your control. The regularity with which you shed skin cells can change throughout your life. The rate at which you produce sebum is affected by your hormone balance, which is often in flux — especially for women. Research has also shown that genetics play a big part in the development and persistence of acne, so your family history is a valuable prediction tool as well when considering the various causes of acne.

One of the best weapons in the fight against acne, however, is knowledge; if you know what causes acne, it’s easier to formulate a good plan of attack. There are five primary culprits contributing to this process. Each of these factors may vary dramatically between individuals. While you don’t have control over these factors, understanding them can help you in your search for the proper acne treatment.

Acne Causes – Culprit #1: Hormones. For the majority of acne sufferers, the trouble begins at puberty, when the body begins to produce hormones called androgens. These hormones cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge, which is a natural part of the body’s development. In acne sufferers, however, the sebaceous glands are overstimulated by androgens, sometimes well into adulthood. Androgens are also responsible for acne flare-ups associated with the menstrual cycle and, on occasion, pregnancy.

Acne Causes – Culprit #2: Extra sebum. When the sebaceous gland is stimulated by androgens, it produces extra sebum. In its journey up the follicle toward the surface, the sebum mixes with common skin bacteria and dead skin cells that have been shed from the lining of the follicle. While this process is normal, the presence of extra sebum in the follicle increases the chances of clogging — and can cause acne.

Acne Causes – Culprit #3: Follicle fallout. Normally, dead cells within the follicle shed gradually and are expelled onto the skin’s surface. But in patients with overactive sebaceous glands — and in nearly everyone during puberty — these cells are shed more rapidly. Mixed with a surplus of sebum, the dead skin cells form a plug in the follicle, preventing the skin from finishing its natural process of renewal.

Acne Causes – Culprit #4: Bacteria. The bacterium Propionibacterium acnes, (P. acnes for short) is a regular resident of all skin types; it’s part of the skin’s natural sebum maintenance system. Once a follicle is plugged, however, P. acnes bacteria multiply rapidly, creating the chemical reaction we know as inflammation in the follicle and surrounding skin.

Acne Causes – Culprit #5: Inflammation. When your body encounters unwanted bacteria, it sends an army of white blood cells to attack the intruders. This process is called chemotaxis; or, simply put, the inflammatory response. This is what causes pimples to become red, swollen and painful. The inflammatory response is different for everyone, but studies have shown that it is especially strong in adult women.

What can I do? Fortunately, you have options! There are many kinds of acne treatments available today. But first, you should try to determine the type and severity of your condition. Acne, like a person, is highly individual — it can take many forms, and have a highly variable response to treatment. The more you know about your specific form of acne, the more likely you are to find a treatment that works for you. Learn more about the types of acne.

There are a significant variety of acne treatments and remedies out there in the marketplace and it can be difficult and confusing to find a solution that can work well for you long term. Many acne sufferers have reported that using natural products and methods have helped them in their quest to get rid of acne.

These natural approaches do not work for everyone since acne is complex and there is no single solution that can work for all people. However if you have not tried any natural acne treatments then consider doing so as you may see positive and lasting results. Diet is one of the first things to consider when looking at a natural solution to acne.

For many people eating the high fat foods and junk foods can make their acne worse. Consuming more fruits and vegetables is always recommended as these foods have many great health benefits such as detoxification which can help to reduce the amount of acne causing bacteria in your body. Unfortunately it can be difficult to always eat enough fruits and vegetables which is why it can be ideal to turn to either a whole food supplement or to juicing.

There are many great natural whole food supplements you can purchase at most large supermarkets and health food stores. Many of them go by the name of green drinks. These concentrated supplements contain many green foods which can have many positive health benefits including helping to reduce acne.

You can also purchase a juicer which you can then use to make your own fresh juices out of fruits and vegetables like carrots, celery, apples, pears, oranges and any other hard fruits and vegetables that you like and that can be eaten raw. You should use your diet to cleanse and detoxify your body so that acne causing bacteria has the least chance of surviving in the pores of your skin.

In addition you can also purchase detox kits usually from a local health food stores that can also help to clear your skin. Consider starting with a colon cleanse as that may have the largest effect since most people have colons that are clogged with waste so getting rid of this waste can really make a good difference in your overall health. Many times acne is a sign that something may be wrong with your health so do your best to improve your health by eating responsibly.

Exercise may also be beneficial in helping to reduce acne. If you live a highly dormant lifestyle then make sure to implement some sort of workout routine into your life. Be sure to do both aerobics and strength training. Start slowly and do even ten to fifteen minutes of exercise a day. The important thing is to start and make it a habit. It will always be difficult in the beginning but if you do it consistently it will become a natural part of your life.

When it comes to strength training make sure you do not overdo it. It takes your body a lot of time to recover from each weight training workout so give yourself at least 1 week rest if you lift fairly light weights. The heavier the weights you lift the more rest you need to take otherwise you could end up in a state of over training which weakens the immune system and makes you susceptible to illness.

Also try to relax and enjoy your life. Stress can also contribute to making acne worse. While it is difficult, try to see the good things about every situation and focus on that as this can make a big difference in how you feel. In life we tend to get what we focus on so make it a point to focus on things that serve you in the long term. Follow some of these natural and holistic acne treatment methods to help you get the clear skin and confidence you deserve.

Let me put it to you straight

I advise lots of acne sufferers every day. I assist them as much as possible. Some are amazingly successful right off the bat. Those that have problems Ive observed share some commonalities.

Here are just a few of my observations of the errors acne patients make and how to side-step them.

#1 Mistake: They see their skin as the cause of the trouble and try to fix their skin…

Acne, whether its teen, adult, body, or cystic acne has nothing to do with your skin. Now before you think Ive lost my mind hear me out…

The health of your skin is only an external view of your internal health.

To solve your acne problem you must forever give up the notion that you will be able to put something on your skin that will cure your acne…

How do you fix the internal dilemma ? We will get to that so stay with me.

#2 Mistake: They dont understand WITH EXACTNESS whats really the cause of their acne…

Some will tell you brownies is the cause of acne. Others blame it on too much sex, or birth control pills, or lack of birth control pills.

While others exclaim its the wrong diet, or bad sanitation. While others say diet doesnt effect acne.

And a swarm of other ideas.

(By the way, they are all incorrect, none are the root acne cause ).

And because they never figure out whats really causing their acne they squander their precious time and money on worthless treatments that never addresses the root cause of thier acne.

The most important initial step to becoming acne-free is to learn in detail whats causing it. (Please see my report on Cause of Acne.

#3 Mistake: If they ever do find out whats the cause of they dont have a strategy or method that get results…

…Or they are absent an important ingredient that is stopping them from solving the problem. Often having part of the answer is worse then having the full solution

So they give up for awhile, only to jump on the next acne fad or quick-fix acne cream. But they never fix what’s causing acne.

They end up anguishing years and years when they dont have to. And they suffer yet more years when they dont have to.

Please hear me…

…Your life is worth it. Youve got to take the time to correctly comprehend whats causing your acne and how to cure it. Trust me, acquiring this education is time well spent.

But know who you are learning from…

Almost no one understands whats really causing your acne. There are so many myths and misconceptions. Listen to those who are getting results who have cured their own acne and helped others do the same.

I solved my own acne dilemma. And you can to. You can learn more here: http://www.acneyoda.com

Leo Kiesen suffered adult acne for over a ten years but due to a little good fortune and lots of research and experimentation he found the true acne cause. And with that realization he was able to overcome his acne challenge naturally, without prescriptions, gels, or any of the common acne treatments.

Acne is a term used for clogged pores, spots, and often deeper mounds ( known as cysts or nodules ). Many of these result on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and higher arms. While acne is often demoted to the teenage population, adults of any age can get acne. Acne isn’t life-endangering, but can cause permanent scarring and emotional distress if not treated properly.

There are too many acne fighting products on the market to add, and the majority of them simply do not work. However, there are some that do work reasonably well. The problem is that many folk who suffer from acne will spend quite a lot of time attempting to find the best acne treatments. Teenagers often grow beyond acne before they find therapy that works.

There are a lot of products available for the treatment of acne, plenty of which are without any scientifically proven effects. Most commonly, successful treatments show tiny improvement within the first two weeks, instead taking a period of roughly a quarter to improve and start flattening out. Many treatments that guarantee giant enhancements inside two weeks are likely to be principally disheartening. However, short bursts of cortisone can give extremely quick results, and other treatments can fast improve some active spots, but sometimes not all active spots.

Can acne be treated? With the right care, physician supervision, and common sense, acne is treatable from mild cases to the serious. Here’s a glossary of terms to help understand the diverse stages and classifications of acne wanted to correctly treat acne.

A mixture of treatments can seriously cut back the amount and severity of acne in numerous cases. Those treatments that are most effective tend to have bigger potential for side effects and need a bigger degree of monitoring, so a step-wise approach is typically taken. Many folks talk to doctors when selecting which treatments to use, particularly when considering using any treatments in combination.
