How to get rid of spots and acne

Acne and spots affect most teenagers and a significant number of adults as well. They are caused hair follicles (pores) becoming blocked by sebum oil and dead skin cells. The result of this blockage is a build up of bacteria that leads to infection. The body’s natural response is to push the infection out through the pore and this leads to spots and acne.

Things such as lifestyle, hormones, stress levels and diet all play a role in the cause and prevention of acne.

Banish Those Spots – Effective Acne Treatment!

Acne is a skin infection that causes spots and in severe cases can cause scarring. Acne normally starts at the onset of puberty which is why acne is normally associated with teenagers, although for some people it may be lifelong. 80% of the population may be affected at some time of their life. Acne spots normally occur on the face, neck, chest, back and upper arm.

It is generally thought that acne is caused by skin over-reacting to hormones, probably the male hormone testosterone. More men suffer from acne than women because of their higher levels of testosterone. Skin is covered with tiny hair follicles each with a gland that produces an oily substance called sebum. In some people the gland becomes over-active producing more oil which mixes with dead skin cells and blocks the follicle. An infection then builds up behind the blockage causing acne. Acne spots develop in several ways. Blackheads and whiteheads form when the follicle is blocked. These can become infected as the oil builds up and the infection then causes the characteristic acne spots to appear.

Acne is a very distressing problem faced by millions of people worldwide.

One of the main types of people that suffer are teenagers. as you enter puberty and evolve into adult hood, your body starts to produce the sex hormone androgen.

When your body reaches high levels of androgen, it also starts to produce sebum. sebum is the natural oil in the skin. These excessive levels of sebum reacts with the bacteria which lives on the dead skin cells and acne is produced.

Hi All,

My doctor has recently booked me in for a blood test (next week) as she says i need ot have my Hormones checked. Im currently on no contraceptive pill (as they mess up my periods) and im 25. has anybody experienced this? Im under alot of stress, and find im stressed alot and i feel anxious for stupid reasons and stress about my health. I had a series of panick attacks when i was 19, i was living with my ex bf and his mom who happened to be a total manic depressant person, which was unsettling and she came to me to confide in and told all her worries to, i always beleived she triggered my pannick attack as she may have rubbed off of me causing mental strain and stress. So i was 19 and ive not had a pannick attack again untill last year, when i NEARLY had one, but i controlled. Since then ive gone down hill. I used otbe a carefree/laid back person, and now my out look on life is very bleak. Throw in weight gain and restless night, my life at the moment pretty much sucks.

But this resent doctors visit, Hormonal imbalance? After reading up on this i feel i fit the bill perfectly. How will this be treated if i do have unbalanced hormones? And my favourite question – Will i feel better after they are balanced :-) Hope so :-) I dont normally look forward to blood tests, but this one i am, as i feel this will answer all my questions, and ill know im not totally bonkers :-) x

We all understand that adolescents often suffer from acne but what about adult acne. Isn’t it supposed to have disappeared by adulthood? Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case.

Acne occurs when sebum, the skin’s natural oily secretion that moisturizes the skin, is produced in excess. The follicles that allow the sebum to reach the skin become clogged with this excess oil along with dead skin cells.

The resulting pimples may become inflamed by bacteria and become red and tender to the touch. As adults, acne can appear on the outer part of the face, and women may find outbreaks around their mouths and on their chins.

Common form of acne problem for women and men is the chest acne, pimples on back, neck and shoulders. People suffer from facial acne due to its increased exposure to pollution and other outer acne-inducing factors. However, people’s bodies may also become prone to acne when the internal factors like hormonal change, genes, and medication are accompanied by perspiration trapped by synthetic clothing. The best way to avoid this condition is to wear natural breathable fabrics, like cotton, in order to induce evaporation of sweat.
