Specifically body acne scars. What has worked for you, if anything?

I have tried Mederma but stopped using it after a tube because I saw no improvement.

Since then I have been using Bio Oil and pure Vitamin E oil and have noticed a slight difference after two months. I have recently started doing weekly glycolic acid peels (have done 2 so far).

I am hoping to feel more comfortable wearing a swim suit in public next by next summer.

i dont have THAT MUCH acne, but i have maybe 10 or 15 relatively medium or small pimples on my forehead, and some also around my nose. I’m using Neutrogena gentle exfoliant 1ce a day, SFC lotion once a day, and DuAc once a day (prescription). However, i still get pimples, and lately ive been drinking a lot of water and not touching them because people say those are the 2 most important things for skin. but, i’ve been getting a little more than usual.

what are some of YOUR tricks and tips about getting rid of AND preventing acne??

I’ve had body acne (back, chest, and shoulders – the whole 9 yards) for about 4 years – and throughout all of them, I made the awful mistake of picking at almost every blemish I got. Unfortunately, African-American skin scars very easily from such damage. Just as unfortunately, I haven’t really decided to do anything about it until about 3 months ago (March). I’ve been using Vaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Cream just about every day since then. Some of the more recent scars have faded, but the ones that have been there for the whole 4 years are still going strong. Anyway, I would really appreciate any suggestions on what to do about this – products, herbs, anything! I’ve also been given the option to visit a spa in the near future, and any advice on what sort of treatment would help reduce scars would also be great.

This scarring can take on many different forms but the most typical is what is known as ice pick scarring. This is where the scars are v-shaped, pointed and deep. If you have a problem with scarring from acne, there are some acne scar reduction treatments that have shown promise.

Acne vulgaris may be present in the first few weeks. The most common trigger is puberty, when surges in androgen stimulate sebum production and hyperproliferation of keratinocytes. Symptoms of acne include whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples. These can occur on the face, neck, shoulders, back, or chest. Pimples that are large and deep are called cystic lesions. Cystic acne can be painful; other types cause no physical symptoms but can be a source of significant emotional distress. Lesion types frequently coexist at different stages. Acne vulgaris may also be influenced by genetic factors. Medications that can promote acne include steroids, lithium, some antiepileptics, and iodides.

Although there are not any verified scientific treatments or methods for preventing acne, there are some small changes that can be done to help prevent and also control acne that have been shown to be very beneficial to several acne patients. This article will give you a few basic treatments and good tips for preventing acne.

First of all, it is helpful to know what can cause acne and what it really is. Most experts agree that the main reason for acne is inflated hormonal activity which causes excessive oil to be produced in the sebaceous glands of the skin. This seems to be why acne is so predominant in adolescents who have begun puberty and have raised hormonal activity. The majority of acne prevention and control medicines utilise benzoyl peroxide mixed with other agents. These medications can be helpful but a better method to prevent acne is by changing some of your habits and making some lifestyle changes which can potentially stop acne from occurring.
