Article by Ken Fong

One of the most severe forms of acne vulgaris is cystic acne, otherwise also known as nodulocystic acne. If you become aware of cystic acne developing, you should seek treatment immediately due to long term effects it may have on your skin. Any delays in doing will increase your chances of getting permanent acne scars, since this form of acne is much more severe than other forms of acne.

What you will find in this article is a look at various forms of cystic acne treatment normally prescribed, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. That being said, it is perhaps more beneficial to understand cystic acne’s characteristics first before diving into the available treatments. The signs of cystic acne are fairly obvious- deep reddened blushes along with some papules along your face, and possibly around your shoulders or back. Even with these signs, it would not be right to call the condition cystic acne unless actual cysts develop on your skin.

Cysts, simply put are fluid-filled bumps on your skin that are soft to the touch and seem to originate from under the dermis layer. Size-wise, they are roughly the same as your average pimples, and perhaps slightly bigger. Whatever you do, resist the urge to puncture them. Chances are, you might also find you see bumps called nodules. These nodules are normally harder and bigger than cysts plus they hurt when you touch them. Realistically, nodules can take a long time to heal, even with a doctor’s help as they originate from deep within the skin structure.

From observations made of cystic acne, it appears that it is more prevalent among people with a family history of the condition. Demographically speaking, men below the age of 35 and teenagers going through puberty are the more likely to suffer from cystic acne.

Now, to dispel some myths – cystic acne does not occur due to poor dietary practices, irregular facial cleaning or even drinking overly sweet beverages. These reasons do not cause cystic acne. As explained earlier however, it does seem that genetic predisposition is one of the primary causes for this severe form of acne. The next section gives details on treatments for cystic acne available. The first thing to mention is that I highly recommend you consult a dermatologist without delay to profile your skin condition because cystic acne can quickly increase in severity. Nonetheless, details of available treatments are provided below, especially focusing on their particular negative and positive points. Here are the 5 most common treatments for cystic acne:-

a) Oral antibiotics

This form of treatment is usually available in pill form. Typically, you will be given these in blocks of 3 monthly supplies. No matter how much improvement you may see throughout the course of treatment, make sure you finish it so that antibiotic immunity does not develop in the bacteria. The antibiotic works by slowly killing ff P-acne population on your skin which in turn controls the infection.

This form of treatment works very well provided you give your doctor any details of allergies to antibiotics. The great thing about this treatment is that it should be quite affordable for most people. On the flipside, you may suffer minor side effects such as minor stomach discomfort or occasional bouts of nausea.

b) Isotretinoin

You may know these from their more common brand names such as Claravis, RoAccutane, Amnesteem or even Isotane. While slightly more expensive, these are available in pills or tablet form, just like antibiotics. Because this drug works in several different mechanisms, it works much better than antibiotics. One way it operates is by constricting your sebaceous glands to reduce the amount of sebum your body produces.

One other way it works is by reducing the size of P-acne bacteria colonies, since it possesses antimicrobial properties. A downside of this treatment is that side effects are more pronounced. It is not uncommon for the user to experience dryness in lips, skin and eyes. Another side effect reported is the dryness causing skin flaking and early stage acne breakouts. On the balance however, few other cystic acne treatments work as well as this one.

c) Oral contraceptives (for women)

This course of treatment should only be considered if you were thinking of using oral contraceptives regardless, and not as the primary acne control method. Oral contraceptives work by reducing the amount of testosterone production in your body and this in turn controls the amount of sebum your sebaceous glands

A word of caution, certain contraceptives work by increasing your testosterone levels- avoid these. Needless to say, these may actually cause your acne to become worse. When seeking advice from a pharmacist, be honest about the secondary reason you’re using contraceptives and they should prescribe the appropriate forms.

d) Surgical excision and drainage

As the name suggests, this is a surgical procedure that works on the external appearances. It is normally not recommended on cases that the surgeon deems to be non-severe since there are some risks involved. Basically, small cuts are made by the surgeon on your lesions to drain fluids within cystic cavities. This can be an expensive treatment option, but can be quite worth it as the improvements you can see are quite dramatic.

e) Intralesional injections

This method works by reducing the inflammation and size of lesions via an injection into your dermis layer. One added advantage this method has is that it has been found to reduce permanent acne scarring. On the plus side, you may see considerable improvement in your skin within a week or so, but the negative is that the procedure may be fairly painful and there may be considerable monetary costs involved.

A chronic acne sufferer visits Dr Pixie. Natalie, who has suffered from boils and cysts on her face, back and bottom since she was 12, said the condition was only getting worse. Natalie was diagnosed with Cystic Acne, more rare and ferocious than its milder variant which affects 80% of the population. Dr Pixie advised a joint course of antibiotics and laser treatment and sent Natalie to see a specialist dermatologist. Natalie’s skin was treated with pixel laser resurfacing treatment, rejuvenating healthy skin under the scar tissue and was given small skin grafts to cover the larger pock marks. Since, Natalie has had stronger laser treatment to tackle the deeper scaring. Several months later a radiant Natalie revisits the clinic thanking Dr Pixie for the huge physical and personal change the treatment has made. This new series explores the conditions and ailments that leave many of us a little red-faced and aims to de-stigmatise common complaints.
I read cystic acne was ‘large pus filled pimples’ and i have a few of those, but they go away relatively quickly, which i read cystic acne doesn’t. So how do i tell what i have?

Best answer:

Answer by juli
i used to have cystic pimples until i changed my diet,so this probably might help you——– a lot of food ingredients(not fresh meat, veg, fish, cheese, potato’s,etc) are man made from chemicals, now if i gave you a teaspoon of chemical to drink, you probably wouldn’t be surprised with the new cystic pimple growing the next day, how do i know? i lived this nightmare of cystic pimples,as one was dying, ping i could feel the next one coming, running home from school or getting up in the morning to look in the mirror(juli, stop looking in the mirror they won’t go any quicker),making excuses not to go out and staying in to apply mud from mexico, slime from the bottom of the sea, face masks made from kangaroo poo,it looks a little bit better(who are you kidding)why do i only see one person in every million like me,because they aren’t allergic to anything,oh no i got another one, this will be my last one,it’s the end of my teenage years, this will be my last one i’m thirty and a half next week. i had 10 years of them, left mums house, bingo month later clear fresh complexion,if i went back to mums big spot again, mum said you’re allergic to something,6 months later we found that it was a food (chemical)ingredient added as a food flavouring, sauces, gravy, flavours put on breadcrumbs, drinks, curries, lots of things. no more bending over when a fit boy passes so my hair falls over my face.it should be easy to find out what your eating that your allergic to

Article by Stowell

Acne is an inflammation that occurs mostly within the skin tone of your teenager but also on that of an adult. It’s a issue which will impact anyone creating their skin color to create a pimple or reddish bump. The actual and real leads to of cystic acne are still vague and not clear and this sometimes makes a pure cystic acne treatment method resolution a little difficult and frustrating.

Cystic acne, or nodulocystic acne, is probably the most crucial and grave type of acne. It usually impacts deeper skin color tissue than slightly more typical acne. The “cysts or boils may well seem on the groin, buttocks as well as armpit spot, plus wherever else the sweat collects including from the hair follicles and perspiration ducts. The boils on their own can become big and may well measure up to several centimeters in diameter. Any person in search of cystic acne cure will ordinarily appear throughout a complete entire world of solutions most of which are scientifically confirmed. The seriousness with which cystic acne can attack somebody demands that you choose to embark using a treatment rapidly otherwise the outcomes will continually not be desirable.

It truly is extremely suggested that competent professional medical personnel, preferably dermatologists will be the only types to render cystic acne remedy. This is straight down to your undeniable fact that highly effective systemic medications are generally essential as a result it only tends to make feeling for technical individuals to take care of it. Men and women struggling from cystic acne will be tempted an excellent volume of time for you to go ahead and squeeze the cysts. This is really improper simply because squeezing an acne may possibly make the infection worse, extra agonizing and it’ll normally final lengthier around the skin. Therefore, in contrast to other forms of acne, therapy for this a person solely belongs to some dermatologist. Regardless of how itching or burning the motivation to embark on therapy is, you should desist or stand the danger of getting worse.

Some with the remedies of cystic acne which might be rendered by dermatologists involve among others isotretinoin which is actually a Vitamin A derivative that performs by shrinking the sebaceous glands and ultimately reducing the oil found on the skin color. One more treatment that is certainly generally suggested may be the use of oral antibiotics which operate by cutting down Propionibacterium acnes (the bacteria that leads to acne breakouts). Cystic acne cure may also be rendered by injecting corticosteroid inside cyst itself. It can be a easy steroid that eliminates the cyst whilst at a similar time avoiding the problem of scarring because it essentially cuts out the odds of the cyst bursting – as a substitute it dries it up absolutely and entirely.

With all that in brain, it must be remembered that cystic acne treatment needs a good deal of patience. In most situations, the Dermatologist will treat a individual with a blend therapy to maintain less than a minimal and ultimately cure the acne. The Dermatologist will even be mindful to render the therapy in this sort of a way that right after the treatment, you can find not as numerous visible scars and side results. Most in the treatments rendered for cystic sorts of acne arrive being a previous resort right after all other treatment options have failed to build any influence.

Up coming, check out greatest acne cure at home to put together began quickly on curing acne by making use of the proper acne option.

Finding the right cystic acne treatment for you can be a very hard task. Every month the cystic acne treatments selling session is estimated in millions of dollars. Most of the people who suffer from this skin disorder are running from treatment to treatment just to find out that nothing is working. This situation can get you frustrated, out of money and basically with no cure for your acne.

There is no magical formula that will cure cystic acne in 3 days; in fact curing acne can take few months and even up to one year if done correctly. You have to beware of all those products available in the market that promising quick fix for severe skin disorders. I don’t say that they are fraud but you have to use extreme caution just because the possibility that this treatment might not be suitable for you and even make you condition worse.

We all have different skin, therefore acne treatment that would be good for a person with oily skin will not be good for a person that have dry skin. The most useful thing to do is to consult a professional doctor who will give you prescription that is effective for you. Prepare for a long run, your cystic acne condition will get worse before it’s get better so don’t be frustrated if something doesn’t works as you expected after few weeks. Quitting in a middle of the treatment is not a good option.

If you would like to learn how to get rid of acne, than you have to learn about a healthy lifestyle as well. There is no point in using antibiotic, creams and other treatments if you don’t exercise, don’t eating healthy food and keep using the wrong makeup for you. Curing cystic acne is possible with the right knowledge, guidance and of course patience.

Question by riddelinpro: Cystic Acne?
I have bad cystic acne on my face where my beard should be. It started when my facial hair started growing in around 17 and it has been from getting bad to semi-better and then bad again for 2 years now. I’ve tried everything from prescriptions, home remedies, over the counter, pro active, murad…… basically everything except accutane. I’m wondering if anybody knows of anything that worked for them with this type of acne. I’m leaning towards the accutane because I am absolutely sick of the pain, embarrassment, dryness, and wasted money associated with this acne. Any suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by Britneyrox100
You should absolutely try accutane, because that’s what’s made for. I don’t have cystic acne, but mild to moderate inflamatoy acne, and wanted to be put on accutane, but my dermo wouldn’t let me. But I would do it if I were you, because it would probably be the the thing that would work best on your type of acne.

Know better? Leave your own answer in the comments!

Cystic acne is caused by hormonal imbalances and toxicity in our body and it can start with an irritated stomach lining. Eating excess carbs can lead to all those conditions, and your skin can be in better condition on low carb than ever before.

Another thing that can cause breakouts is excessive cardio exercise that leaves your body acidic. That happens when you workout at high intensity and the lactic acid builds up in your body to toxic levels. Depending on the strength of your lymphatic and endocrine systems, this toxicity can take many days to clear out. Antioxidants like Vitamin C can help getting rid of cystic acne, but it is best to workout at lower intensities most of the time.

If you are a runner who likes to race, you can do speed work at higher intensities one day a week, but do not keep it up for extended periods – do it in intervals. If you do not race, workout at lower intensities and you will burn more fats and also keep your body from building up toxins from excessive acid build up. Gentle exercise is so much better for your health when you have cystic acne problem.

Pain and heaviness in the legs is a sign you are stressing your body. You would often get cystic acne breakouts when over-training and after intense efforts. If you will work out more moderately the cystic acne might be minor. Stay out of the mostly sugar burning zone in your workouts and that will probably help.

If you have a serious cystic acne problem, I would suggest that you will consult a professional dermatologist about proper cystic acne treatments over the long-term. And if you just have a pimple here and there, you can try some of the topical remedies.

I have heard of many people who claim to have solved their cystic acne problems through diet, but unfortunately it doesn’t work for everyone. There is some ambiguity on what a “good diet” consists of. For example, some diets are not too keen on grain and carbohydrate based foods while most nutritionists recommend a grain based diet. Also there are lots of books on diet and foods, and there are some differences in opinion.

Interestingly, many studies had been performed on the diet and cystic acne relationship, and none was found. Also, a sickness or disease caused by malnutrition or poor diet tends to linger on until the poor diet is rectified. For example, if you had a low iron intake, you would continue to feel tired and run down until your iron intake increased. Cystic acne (in most cases) disappears in the mid-twenties even though sufferers have made no change in their diet. Now, if cystic acne is a disease caused by poor diet, why should it suddenly disappear?

One thing I would object strongly to, is the idea that cystic acne is a symptom of western diet. In fact, those of us who have travelled may have noticed that traditional Asian and African diets are no better for their culture than western diets, at least in terms of the incidence of cystic acne amongst their people. There may well be strong evidence to suggest that western diets are not actually very good for us – but there really is no evidence that it can either cause or worsen cystic acne.

I am not seeking to totally discredit the claim that diet has a part to play in cystic acne but still there are lots of other factors that can trigger this skin condition like hormones, genetics, vitamin deficiency, stress and much more.

When oil ducts get clogged infected and swollen abscess form and are known as cystic acne. More commonly cystic acne is found on teenagers and tends to appear mainly on the face. Generally worse than most acne conditions cystic acne stems from deeper skin tissue which results in much more superficial inflammation. Breakouts of cystic acne tend to be more aggressive and painful, which can lead to deep scarring. Severe cystic acne is referred to by a majority of dermatologists as the worst.

It can be treated and more recently cystic acne remedies have had a major breakthrough.

Normally cystic acne can take a long time to heal due to the condition being located deep under the skin. In most cases there has been limited treatment available for the cystic acne condition, and any resolution generally resulted in a dermatologist becoming involved. The light at the end of the tunnel now means that there are several measures and remedies that can clearly fight against cystic and severe cystic acne; in fact holistic remedies for the entire acne spectrum have proved exceptionally favourable for sufferers.

The normal range of physician prescribed treatments all tend to focus on the external reduction of cystic acne and tend to fail in meeting the true acne condition head-on. In many cases some prescribed and recommended treatments almost seem barbaric, but with such a volatile human condition as cystic acne, attacking it with any real effect and producing respite for the sufferer required drastic measures.

In every case of cystic acne that is treated by physicians, acne patients are always required to pay special attention and take care of their health; this includes the skin, which is what they will predominately focus on. With good reason of course because bursting cystic acne can and does result in producing scars

Common sense should always be taken with any facial condition, such as not touching the face with your hands and always maintain top hygiene by cleaning the face at least twice a day. In some circles there has been mention that science has the technology to completely clear anyone fully of any acne condition including cystic acne and even severe cystic acne, but due to a hefty financial loss that would be produced from losing revenue from sales of over the counter acne treatments such as pills, creams etc. Fortunately for acne sufferers some dermatologists themselves have suffered from the condition and brought forward their own complete cures.

Fighting and beating the acne condition can be tough at the best of times, but beating cystic acne was in most cases thought to be almost impossible, that is until now. It can be treated and cured a lot easier than most sufferers are actually aware of and as simply as following A, B, C, with C standing for Cured. There are a multitude of websites that claim to be able to cure and provide remedies for acne, but very few claim to be able to cure cystic acne. The best natural acne treatment skin success system online has helped thousands of cystic acne sufferers Worldwide so far, and is well worth you reviewing.

Clive Anderson started using the Internet in 2005 as a means of gaining knowledge on various subjects in order to gain a better understanding that would enable him to express and demonstrate more clearly information that could help others as well as be of some substance.

Having had no previous Internet knowledge and a very limited computer ability meant improving online skills was paramount. This also meant achieving the goals that he had set himself was going to be a very real challenge, but one that was accepted as a necessity if the objective was to be conquered.

Like so many others he has faced many trials and tribulations both on and offline in order to reach the point that he is at today.

Writing has become a bit of a two pronged sword to coin a phrase. At one end is the reward that comes from being able to offer beneficial assistance, information, expertise, discoveries, and experiences through the expression of writing.

Added to that the overall enjoyment, fulfilment and sense of achievement that can be found in writing the articles.

One thing that has become crystal clear is the fact that you can only achieve good things in life by first helping others overcome their own restrictions, obstacles, and hurdles.

Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; so we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.

Have You Ever Thought What You Would Attempt if You Knew That No Matter What You Attempted You Could Not Fail? Why not give it a try? You might be pleasently surprised.

People who suffer from Cystic Acne are always looking for the next cystic acne solutions that available on the market. There are lots of medications, creams and many other formulas which cost very much. However if you have a clean and healthy life style you might solve the cystic acne condition by your own.

It is very well known that if you keep your skin clean, eat low fat food and exercise regularly you will see an improvement in your skin condition. When you live healthy your body disposes the toxic materials out of the system in natural ways. For example if you eat low calories food there is a chance that the fats will no clog your skin pores. Furthermore if you do sport than lots of the fats are burned, but more important the sweat is also a mechanism that clears you skin from infections.

In order to improve your Cystic Acne skin condition you can try those ideas:

Start to drink green tea because it contains lots of antioxidants that are really good for your skin. Drink water and not soda that is full of chemicals like food colors, acids and etc. all those chemical are not healthy to the skin.

Improve your body immune system by taking vitamins which mostly can be found in vegetables and fruits.

Keep your face clean, wash it few times a day and / or use cleanser to remove the acne bacteria, oil and dust from your skin.

The human body is a wonderful machine; in most cases it has the capability to cure itself even from cystic acne. The solution is very simple – keep living in healthy lifestyle and you will see a remarkable change. If it doesn’t work than you can always try medication and to consult with a doctor or dermatologist.
