Should I start taking a different acne medication?
I’ve been taking minocycline for acne for over a year. I’ve never had horrendous skin, but I get at least one cystic pimple a week along with a few everywhere else. I also have two topical medications that I use. I take impeccable and consistent care of my skin, yet my skin is never fully clear. Is this the best my skin is going to get with minocycline or should I be seeing better results than this?

Some people respond to antibiotics, some don’t. If this has been going on for a year and not seeing much improvement, then see dermatologist. If/when you go, get all options, do your research. Long term antibiotic use is never a “great thing” but for some is better than alternative.
If you can, consult with a dermatologist. There are too many medications out there to know what is the best acne medication.

I’m not sure if your skin will get better or not. But i had HORRIBLE acne and i went to my doctor and he perscribed me ”sodium sulfacetamide 10 and sulfur 5 lotion” and ”tetracycline 500″ antibiotics. They cleared my skin up so well!! I dont have pimples anymore. And it does not even dry your skin out like some creams do. I recommend to everyone.
Hi Kritkrew
Before you start using a new medication please pay attention in your healthy.
I mean, medications and creams only treat the symptoms and not the underlying cause and this is the reason why acne keeps coming back.
I recommend you to read a really great article on this website about how one high school student Clears Up Acne in Few Days and Stops Them From Ever Coming Back without using any creams or drugs! http://tiny.cc/how_to_get_rid_of_acne
Dont take medications for skin, you will be sorry later…
read this…www.fastacnetreatment.org.. its about women like you who fought their acne..
If acne is treated early, it usually responds well to treatment. The main aim of treatment is to stop new pimples from forming, heal pimples, prevent scarring and lessen the embarrassment associated with acne.
Mild to moderately severe acne may be treated with over-the-counter gels, lotions, and creams such as benzoyl peroxide which is applied directly to the skin. Oral antibiotics may also be prescribed to reduce inflammation while oral contraceptives have also shown to improve acne. Minocycline is one of them and supposed to be effective in quite a few people. At the same time, many people swear by its ineffectiveness, at least after using it for more than a year

In episodes where acne is extremely severe, another oral medication known as Isotretinoin (Accutane) is one of the most effective treatments with successful results. However, all these medications can cause negative side effects and it is important that you inform your health practitioner or dermatologist immediately.
Natural and holistic remedies are a safer, gentler yet effective treatment option to reduce acne without the harmful effects of synthetic chemicals often found in conventional medications. Carefully selected herbs such as Melaleuca Alterniflora (Tea Tree Oil), Azadirachta indica and Arctium lappa support the skin and contain anti-fungal, antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
Bulbine frutescence and Aspalathus linearis (rooibos) help to soothe and prevent skin infections, and also have excellent antioxidant properties – helping to fight free radicals and help discourage the signs of aging.
Yes, you need to consult with your doctor first, but i personnaly would suggest you to try Benzoyl Perixode. I have purchased Benzac without prescription, and it cleared my skin extremely fast!
