should i ask my doctor for an acne medication?

i am going for an annual check up soon and am planning on asking my doctor for an acne medication. my acne isnt really bad but it is getting worse and with nothing working i am worried some will leave scars. should i ask my doctor for a prescription? should i get pills or face cream? do they even work?

It is difficult for people to recommend certain products because everyone is different. Your doctor will probably refer you to a dermatologist who will assess your particular situation and recommend a course of action for you.
Medication works by fighting the bacteria from the inside versus topical creams and ointments. But if your is not really “bad” than I would hold off. It really is not a good idea to be on antibiotics for a prolonged period of time unless really warranted.
