Is it okay to use marijuana and shrooms with medications like Concerta, Lexapro, and Accutane?
hello, i was wondering if i would be able to use drugs like weed, shrooms, salvia, dmt, oxycotin, and tabacco while im still on medications like lexapro(30mg) which i take daily, concerta(54mg) which i also take daily, and accutane(20 mg) which i also take daily. I am well imformed about how these drugs react with some of these prescriptions, but not fully. Like how lexapro is an ssri and shrooms are maoi’s, and the combination shouldnt be combined, but there are people who have combined them, so im not completley sure. As far as weed goes, im not sure how weed will affect the accutane. and im not sure how dmt will work with taking ssri’s. Please dont give me some bullshit awnsers like” dont take drugs” and stuff, because im wise about what i do. and also if someone experienced or know’s about these things could awnser it because i dont want to add on even more problems then i already have. I suffer from a.d.d, a.d.h.d, panic attacks, anxiety depression, and BAD acne, thankyouforyouhlp

I think it should be fine with the concerta, but the concerta might make your trip just insane, but, combining a seratonin inhibitor with shrooms I dont think would go over well, dmt is insane, regardless of what prescription you are on, so I dont really suggest it, especially because it works partially in the same areas as ssri’s do, the weed should be fine but the panic attacks and depression would make me think you should stick with oxy and weed and tobacco, and give up the hallucinogens

First off, it’s always somewhat risky to mix psychoactive substances. As you know, you shouldn’t mix SSRIs and MAOIs. The results can be quite nasty – fever, rigidity, twitches, agitation leading to delirium and coma- and can cause death. This condition is called ‘serotonin syndrome’, and basically results from an extreme overloading of serotonin in the synapse, resulting from almost total reuptake inhibition. While this doesn’t occur in all cases, the likelihood is significant enough that a 5 week waiting period is usually implemented between stopping an SSRI and starting an MAOI.
While I’m no aware of any specific interactions with the other drugs you’ve listed, anything that modifies neurotransmitter behavior can have an effect. Drugs like oxycotin directly affect dopamine, and weed does affect your receptivity to endogenous opioids. Further, consider that your body does have to filter out all of the substances you put in. Complex psychoactives can upset the liver, and can cause significant damage. This can be particularly true with street drugs, since they can be cut with just about anything (shrooms aside, naturally). With that in mind, I can’t recommend taking any non-prescribed psychoactives while taking psychiatric medication.
All that said, I could be very wrong. While it may seem like a bad idea, you should talk with your psychiatrist about it. They’re typically not strangers to these things.
