Is it okay if I use my body soap (St. Ives Moisturizing Body Wash) for my face?
I am 18 and just getting into a skin regime to start to take better care of my skin now to preserve my natural glow plus age prevention. Unfortunately I don’t have enough funds to cover special cleansers, acne creams, toners (idk even know what they are, but heard you need them), moisturizers, sunscreens.. Plus all of that just sounds exhausting. So will it be okay if I use that to cleanse my face every time I’m in the shower, would that be enough cleasing and acne treatment I need? And if everyone knows a good skin regime for an 18 year old that will be a plus, and I’ll really appreciate it. Thanks

I don’t think using body soap for your face is a good idea. I read a true story about a woman in China once who used hand soap on her face all throughout her life, and it caused her skin to be very dry, brittle & old looking when she got older. It basically ruined her skin.
Body soap is harsher than facial soap, so it could ruin your skin too. To be as careful as possible, I recommend buying a facial soap. They dont cost that much, and you can just buy one cleanser. You don’t need to bu y acne cream unless you really need it, and same with toner. I use Neutrogena Deep Clean facial wash every night & morning and it works great. Buying an exfoliator for your face to use once a week will benefit your face also.
Since you have acne, no. The soaps we use on our bodies are harsher than the soaps intended for your face. Good skin care doesn’t have to be expensive or involve tons of products.
An inexpensive regimen you can pick up at WalMart is this:
Neutrogena Cleansing Bar for Acne Prone Skin
Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture SPF 15
Neutrogena On The Spot Acne Treatment
Cleanse morning and evening. In the evening after you cleanse, pile the treatment on your spots, so it’s white and then moisturize around the big spots. In the mornings, apply just a tiny bt of the treatment before you moisturize. If you need to exfoliate, use a washcloth.
Age prevention is all in moisture and sunscreen.
No. The skin on your body is thicker than the skin on your face and by doing that, you’ll only cause more problems. You don’t have to buy the expensive brands, but you do need to get a facial cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer. Use this regime twice a day (morning and night) to maintain healthy skin. Ponds works well, its inexpensive. You might also have to try a few different products before you find the one that suits your skin. You can always return products, so don’t make money a big issue.
