How do you prevent acne or get rid of it?
I’m 14 almost 15 and I know everyone has trouble with acne but, i’m still searching for acne prevention. It is starting to get hot where i live which makes my acne grease and gross. I used Oxy Triple Action cleansing pads 3 times a day (morning, after school, night) but i’m still getting acne on my forehead, chin, and my nose area. Any tips to prevent or get rid of it? Also, tips for school, because my skin gets gross and shiny. I don’t like foundation or powder cause I find it makes it worse. So please tips ?:)

neutrogena deep clean facewash
Use oil blotting sheets during the day and then follow this skin care routine, it works wonders. It’s good for ANY skin type and is a great routine for anyone wanting to improve their skin, no matter what age, sex (yes boys can use it too), or skin problems you may have. The problem with most of the products out there in the market is that they contain detergent which will remove dirt, oil, and makeup but it also strips your skin of water. It’s not labeled as detergent in the ingredients but it’s called Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (check the ingredients on your current cleanser). When your skin is dehydrated, it breaks down more quickly and will cause you to age faster because you lose elasticity in your skin (starts to droop and wrinkle). That’s why most skin care is a huge marketing ploy. They sell you stuff that appears to work so you use it but then you begin to age prematurely so they can sell you wrinkle creams and things of that nature much faster than you ordinarily would need them… Detergents also leave a residue on your skin that causes blackheads and since it dehydrates the skin, your skin produces more oil to compensate for the lack of water. If you follow this regime and do it twice a day (morning & night) I promise you will have much clearer skin and you’ll be slowing down the aging process.
Step 1 Eye Makeup Remover: Find one that is half oil, half water that you need to shake up before using. These remove makeup fast with less rubbing needed so you won’t be irritating your eyes as much. Remove all eye and brow makeup with this. I use Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover which you can buy at Sephora or some department stores ($26.00).
Step 2 Cream Cleanser: Get a cream cleanser that is NOT water activated. Simply squeeze out an amount about the size of a quarter into your DRY hands and rub it together, then onto your DRY face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. You can then rinse it off with water or a damp washcloth but make sure you don’t use any water when you are working this into your face at first. I use Boots Botanics Organic Nourishing Cleanser which I got at Target ($7.99).
Step 3 Alcohol-Free Toner: Use it on two cotton pads and wipe off your face in downward and outward strokes. Toner will remove any excess cleanser on your face, leaving it completely clean and fresh. I use Neutrogena’s Alcohol-Free Toner from Target ($6.49).
Step 4 Day Moisturizer & Night Cream: A daytime moisturizer will help act as a barrier for your skin to hold in moisture (not oil) so even if you are oily, use one! If you’re worried about shine, go for an oil-free formula and if you are dry, use a richer moisturizer. At night, use a night cream (not the same daytime moisturizer) because night creams replenish the moisture you lost during the day. Just be sure mineral oil is not one of the ingredients in the NIGHT cream (can be in the day moisturizer) because mineral oil acts as a seal so nothing will penetrate your skin if that is in it. I use Boots Expert Sensitive Light Moisturizing Lotion for day from Target (don’t know price but it wasn’t expensive) and Boscia Recharging Night Moisture from Sephora ($44.00).
Step 5 Eye Cream: Even if you have no wrinkles there yet, use a day eye cream. When you start to see wrinkles, you will need to get a night eye cream as well as your daytime one. Use a tiny amount (about half the size of a grain of uncooked rice) and rub it between both ring fingers. Then starting by the side of the nose, gently tap it into the skin while moving across the bone surrounding the eye and over your brows. Do not rub it all over your eyes and your lids because the skin there is extremely thin and cannot take so much moisture. I use Clarins’ Eye Contour Gel which you can buy at Sephora or some department stores ($48.00).
Step 6 Lip Balm & Chapstick: Lip balm replenishes moisture in your lips so it will heal chapped lips. Chapstick only acts as a seal to help protect your lips from getting chapped but it does not add moisture to them. Be sure your lip balm does not contain wax (unless it’s beeswax as that is natural), petroleum, petrolatum, or mineral oil. I use Burts Bees from Target (I think it’s $2.99).
Step 7 Yogurt Mask: Go to the grocery store and find either a lemon, orange, or pineapple-flavored yogurt (any brand is fine) and apply it all over your face and let it sit for 10-15mins. Do this every day if you have bad acne or just 1-2 a week to exfoliate. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. The cultures in yogurt help neutralize the bacteria in pores (a blemish is simply a bacteria-filled pore) and the citric acid in the lemon, orange, or pineapple will help you exfoliate the top layer of skin which will be much better than using a scrub.
I hope this has helped but if you have any questions or need clarification, pls feel free to e-mail me. You can get my e-mail on my profile.

1. Keep your face clean. Whether or not you have acne, it’s important to wash your face daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil from the skin surface. Use warm, not hot, water and a mild facial cleanser. Using a harsh soap (like deodorant body soap) can injure the already inflamed skin and cause more irritation.
Avoid scrubbing your skin harshly with a washcloth, exfoliating glove, or loofah (a coarse-textured sponge). Gently wash it with your clean hands or a very soft cloth. Always rinse well, and then dry your face with a clean towel. (Toss the towel in the laundry hamper, as dirty towels spread bacteria.)
2. Moisturize. Many topical acne products contain ingredients that dry the skin, so always use a moisturizer that minimizes dryness and skin peeling. A gel-based moisturizer usually works well for oily skin. If you have dry skin, try a moisturizing cream or lotion. Combination skin may need two products (cream or lotion for the dry section; a gel for the oily part). Always hydrate your skin with water before you moisturize it.
3. Try an over-the-counter acne product. Topical (those applied to the skin) acne products may contain ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial agent with a drying effect, or salicylic acid, an agent that sloughs off skin and gets rid of bacteria. Start with a small amount at first. Then increase or decrease the amount and how often you apply it, depending on how much peeling or drying you have. Use these ointments with caution if you have sensitive skin. Benzoyl peroxide can cause redness and scaling of the skin. It can also bleach your clothes, towel, and hair.
4. Use makeup sparingly. During a breakout, try to avoid wearing foundation, powder, or blush. If you do wear makeup, wash it off at the end of the day. If possible, select oil-free cosmetics without added dyes and chemicals. Water-based cosmetics are available. Read the ingredients list on the product label before buying.
5. Watch what you put on your hair. Avoid using fragrances, oils, and harsh chemicals on your hair. These ingredients can drip on the face, blocking the skin pores and irritating the skin. Stick to a gentle shampoo and conditioner. Oily hair can add to the oil on your face, so wash hair often, especially during a pimple outbreak. If your hair is long, keep it pulled off your face.
6. Keep your hands off your face. Avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can result in infection and scarring.
drink lots of water
wipe phone (can keep germs and oil on it)
wash pillowcases
wash face in the morning and night.exfoliate at least twice a week, and use facial masks too.
use blotting sheets to get rid of oil.
try not to eat oily foods.
this stuff is from a website to reduce oily skin:
This will help prevent pimples and acne problems. If using an astringent, be sure it is not an alcohol-based one and use it only once a day; this will strip too much oil from your face.
•Whether or not you need to use a moisturizer daily is up to you. If your skin feels overly dry after you wash and apply an acne treatment or astringent, then a moisturizer would be a good idea. Avoid moisturizers with cocoa butter and minerals oils; instead, look for a light, oil-free version, also labeled as noncomedogenic. Finding one that has SPF in it is a great bonus.
•Once a week, use a clay mask to help clean deep down into your pores. This is a great oily skin treatment because it will help to clean off any extra oil and dead skin cells. Again, be sure to use this only once per week, or you skin will increase its oil production to compensate.
•Sunscreen is still important! This is one of the best skin care tips–especially for oily skin care.
I don’t have a problem with acne but I know a bit about it. when you’re at that age, you’re growing and your hormones are changing, and for some people it causes acne that you can’t get rid of. But for me, what seems to work to keep my skin clear is I don’t use any acne cleansers or whatever, I just use water, and occasionally regular, non-scented soap. I find if you use acne cleansers it sometimes brings on the acne, instead of preventing it. If I ever do get a few pimples or acne patches every so often, I use Pro Activ, and I find it really works since it almost burns off the acne. I apply it only at night, since it is white in colour. For putting make up to cover up the acne, I agree with you, that foundation does make it look more greasy and does not cover it up at all. But there are certain cover ups, that work and blend with your skin colour and you only apply it to where the acne is, but that is only to cover it up, not prevent it. Again, like using cleansers, facial masks and other creams on your face to help acne, cover up does not seem to help the stopping of acne. I think the best bet for you, would to try for a week or so with just washing your face with a non scented soap or just with water. I highly recommend you try this, because it really does work for some people. Cause if you think about it, the more products you apply to your acne, it most likely will make it worse than clear it up.
I made some tips for you to help you with your skin.
~Always eat healthy,I am vegan I strive to eat as healthy as possible,I love to eat antioxidant-rich foods such as blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and lots and lots of dark leafy green veggies like kale, mustard greens, broccoli, brussel sprouts,snap-peas etc
I also make sure to drink AT LEAST 8 glasses of water a day(I drink 12),a great way to do so is to start when you wake up,try drinking lemon water it give a great kick-start to your metabolism.
~As soon as I wake up I like to palates,I use this one when I am in a hurry:

~And I have a book that comes with a DVD called 15 Minute Total Body workout for Teens..or something like that(it’s at my dads house right now,so I can’t really find out what the name is)
~Some other ways to exercise is to ride your bike, jog,or walk your dog(if you don’t have one ask your neighbours if you could walk theres).
~Skin care is very important to!,I recommend natural cleanser (Cetaphil, Purpose, Kiehls, and Desert Essence all are great),once a week give your self a nice steam facial which helps release toxins and opens pores, then use a mask I like Ecco Bella’s Dark Chocolate Face Mask or you can just use eggs (cheap and they work really really well!),also a nice gentle exfoliant such as Earth Science Gentle Apricot Scrub,or baking soda. For a moisterizer use jojoba oil for oily skin and I recommend a cream moisterizer for dry such as Desert Essence Daily Essential Facial Moisturizer.
~Remember to relax take a break once in a while (including makeup!),give your self a spa day!,or take a nice walk.
~Try not to wear makeup to much I only wear makeup for special events,I like Urban Decay’s vegan makeup.

~For a natural spot treatment try tea tree oil or honey mixed with nutmeg.
~Try getting a sunscreen that’s at-least SPF 15 and up!.
http://www.ewg.org/whichsunscreensarebest/2009report
~And remember keep your chin up nothing is more beautiful then confidence!.
~Avoid consuming too much dairy, and if you absolutely must have it, try to have organic milk and cheese that haven’t been pumped up with as many toxins. The hormones from a cow will be passed on to you when you drink its milk, and they can interfere with your own hormones
~Try to cut out on to many carbs, carbs turn into sugar resulting to acne.
~In short
~Drink water .
~Eat healthy.
~Use a natural cleanser(since you didn’t say your skin type I’ll just recamend one for oily and one for dry) such as Kiehl’s Washable Cleansing Milk (dry) or Dessert Essence’s
Thoroughly Clean Face Wash (oily).
~Use a good mosterizer such as jojoba oil (oily) or Suki’s pure facial moisture – nourishing (dry).
~ Use a good mask such as Ecco Bella’s Dark Chocolate Face Mask once a week (all skin types).

P.s I copyed and pasted this from another one of my answers.
Its so horrible as i used to have it a’lot, took some time to get rid but it finally does start to fade, i tried most things all the way down to certain types of tea lol.
I did get advised to try these people tho (http://www.health-defences.com/acne-removal/) i’m in the process of ordering now! Will post back my output!
Use a mild soap for sensitive skin but it doesn’t matter exactly what type of soap you use. It can be designed for acne-prone skin or not, but you will want to treat your skin gently. Harsh antibacterial soap may actually make your acne worse by irritating skin.
Remove dead skin cells regularly by exfoliating. Use a gentle scrub with natural defoliants like ground walnut shells, or use an over-the-counter chemical defoliant like salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Adding ground walnut shell to a thick moisturizer like cocoa butter can be effective too. Take caution, because over-exfoliating can actually increase the likelihood of acne by irritating the skin. Pat dry, rather than rubbing, since rubbing can cause irritation to the fresh skin you’ve just revealed.
Use a good toner. Spray onto face or wipe on with a cotton ball and wipe off with a clean, dry cotton ball. This gets rid of excess cleanser and tightens pores. Good, inexpensive choices include plain witch hazel for normal to dry skin, lemon juice, or 3% hydrogen peroxide for oily skin. 70% ethyl rubbing alcohol can also be used for severe oiliness, but it can really dry out your skin and irritate it more. Some toners are medicated, and this stage is the best for using a medicated product if you’re only going to use one medication.
Bacteria in pores is one cause of spots. Reduce the amount of bacteria by using toners containing anti-bacterial agents like alcohol, peroxide and benzalkonium chloride, and by using creams that contain benzoyl peroxide (ask your doctor about benzaclin, with moisturizer if you have dry skin, as it works better than just plain benzoyl because benzoyl takes up to 8 weeks before improvement is seen) which kill bacteria as well as cause the skin to regenerate faster. …

Acne Marks or Scars
Here is a simple tip that you can use to reduce your acne scars and pigmentation.
The Oil Cleansing Method
What you will need:
Warm Water
Cold Water
Clean Towels
Castor Oil
Olive Oil
The first thing you need to do is to wash your face gently to remove excess dirt and oils from the surface.
You will then need to warm a clean towel in warm water and apply it to your face for 3 minutes. Do the same thing with the cold water but this time for one minute.
Carry out both the warm water and cold water procedure about 3 times but always finish with cold and then pat dry with another clean towel.
Next mix a small amount of castor oil with a small amount of olive oil. A 50/50 ratio will do just fine. Apply the mixture to your skin and let it stay there for 30 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel and you are good to go.
Be religious with your skincare
I used to have acne till I did the following:
- always use makeup remover (I use Innisfree tea tree cleansing oil)
- then wash your face (I use some Korean green tea soap)
- exfoliate 3-4 times a week (I use Innisfree wine softener)
- do masks 4-5 times a week (facial mask sheets not clay masks. use clay masks 2-3 times a week max. I use Korean face mask sheets like Tony Moly and Hanskin)
- use a cream/ lotion for acne (I use Baviphat apple sleeping mask for acne skin every day)
Hope your skin improves
I suffered with acne for many years and know how it can really get you down. I tryed almost all of the creams and medications and it seemed the only thing that worked was the pill. After a few years I had to come off the pill and guess what… it came back!
I now have changed my diet and drink loads of juices and it really works, I was spot free within about 3 weeks, and naturally!
Check out the e-book Acne No More, it really helped me to understand the cause of acne and how to treat it naturally.
Good Luck
