do i use too much acne medicine?
what i use…
1) in the shower i use a neutrogena black/whitehead prevention soap (orange one)
2) neutrogena WAVE thingy after shower
3) dermalogica “clean start” all over clear spray
4) demalogica “clean start” PM overnight acne eliminator
5) neutrogena on the spot acne medicine
i use these in pretty large amounts. i still have some acne, like 2 or 3 pimples. but they annoy the hell outta me. also, i have a lot of little, acne scars. i use all these products all over my face (on the spots are ALL over t-zone), and it seems to stop most of it. do i use too much? am i drying out my skin?

First, I need to know how old you are. Second, do you have sensitive skin? You may be over doing it with everything. Acne is a result of inflammation of the oil glands in the skin and at the base of hair folicles. the skin becomes clogged and bacteria grows. Keeping skin clean is paramount to fight acne, but too much irritation can cause redness and inflammation as well. I would stop everything for at least 2 weeks and then start by cleaning your face each night with an acne cleanser and then in the morning splash your face with warm water. See if you can get an appointment with your doctor and see if you are a candidate for a prescription gel containing Retin-A.
To me, the dryer you make your facial skin, the more it signals the sebaceous glands (oil producing glands) to produce more oil.
Also, you should keep a record for several weeks of what you eat. Sometimes, a food can make acne worse…for many it is dairy products, especially milk.
