Birth control questions–OrthoTricyclen Lo?
I just got put on this pill today and it is my first time taking birth control. I have a few questions…
1. Does this type of birth control help with acne? It says on their website that the “Lo” version hasn’t been studied for acne treatment, only the regular version. But has anyone had any luck with this?
2. My OB/GYN said something about how I should be on my period sometime during the pack’s cycle, approximately. I think she pointed out the green placebo pills as being about the right time for my period, but I can’t remember for sure. Does anyone know?
3. It says that if you are having sex for the first time, which I am going to soon, you must use a backup method of protection for the first 7 days after taking it (when using a “Sunday Start” like I am). I’ve heard that birth control pills take one month to kick in for pregnancy prevention. So for this pill, is it one month or is it only 7 days until you are protected against pregnancy?
Thanks to anyone who can help, I really appreciate it!
Just curious, also how much weight did you gain? I weigh 100-110 so I’m not too worried about it but I do want to know how much I am working with here lol. I’m willing to lose it but of course I don’t want to gain like 30 pounds all at once.

yes the grren pills are when you are supposed to get your period and it helps a little with acne but i have gained a lot of weight and yes at least a week but you are safer if you wait for 2 or a whole month
1. yes most help with acne… but everyone reacts to it differently
2. yep the green pills are the ones you will have your period on
3. uughhh well i wouldnt trust 7 days, i would use extra protect from at least a month (a condom), but hell its up to you, but i wouldnt chance it!
no prob, have a good one, and happy sex lmfao!
1. A lot of bc pills can help with acne. They just didn’t pay money to specifically test for it. You’ll probably notice yours, if you have any, clearing up within three months.
2. You should expect your period to come when you are on your placebo pills. You might have some breakthrough bleeding when you first start your pills as your body needs to adjust to the new amounts of hormones.
3. As long as you take your pill around the same time every day and use condoms or other back up methods for the first seven days, you should be fully protected. If you’re nervous about getting pregnant the first month, it’s more than acceptable to use condoms as well.
1. Yep
2.its the green ones.
3. I started the pill a year ago, and I waited two weeks before having unprotected sex. I did not get pregnant. I’d wait at LEAST two weeks before starting up.
