Neutrogena is the best, but it does not work for everyone. A 5% benzoyl peroxide wash is great to clease the face. (I think I forgot the correct percentage). The (correct) percentage is a little higher that most acne washes on the market which make it more effective yet GENTLER than Neutrogena wash (the orange colored liquid soap looking kind that says the #1 acne treatment product). It can be doctor perscribed or purchased independently. Differen gel (and other brands with the same active ingredients, like Epiduo) works to apply on present acne bumps. But also try products from GNC, they work very well too. Everything I’ve recommended I have tried, and more, just about every acne product/system out there except Noxema. Personally, I like the peppermint wash, tea tree astringent, and Vitamin E gel capsels from GNC the BEST because they gave me a flawless youthful look and glow everytime I used it and it was moisturizing in the winter but not oily in the summer. The peppermint wash can be purchased from drug stores, and some grocery stores like Wal-Mart or Shoppers. So either 1) doctor prescribed acne treatments, or 2) GNC products. And 3) Neutrogena if you have not tried it.
Again I like recommend the GNC products because they had the best overall results and were not harsh at all, but I am using doctor prescribed products now.
I have used Tea tree oil for several years for my occasional breakouts of acne. I often notice an improvement within 3 – 4 days of beginning treatment.
Although tea tree oil is a popular remedy for acne, there has only been one older study on tea tree oil and acne.
A single-blind randomized trial by the Department of Dermatology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Australia compared the effectiveness and tolerance of 5% tea tree oil gel with 5% benzoyl peroxide lotion in 124 people with mild to moderate acne. People in both groups had a significant reduction in inflamed and non-inflammed acne lesions (open and closed comedones) over the three month period, although tea tree oil was less effective than benzoyl peroxide.
Although the tea tree oil took longer to work initially, there were fewer side effects with tea tree oil. In the benzoyl peroxide group, 79% of people had side effects including itching, stinging, burning, and dryness. Researchers noted that there were far fewer side effects in the tea tree oil group.
Double-blind, randomized controlled trials are needed before we can determine whether tea tree oil can help acne.
Should Undiluted Tea Tree Oil be Applied to Acne Lesions?
Undiluted tea tree oil may cause skin irritation, redness, blistering, overdrying, and itching when applied directly to the skin.
The concentration used in the only study to date was a 5% tea tree oil gel, which was applied to acne prone areas.
A 5% tea tree oil solution can be made by mixing 5 parts tea tree oil to 95 parts water (e.g. 5 mL tea tree oil and 95 mL water).
Getting rid of acne is something that you might think is downright impossible – numerous people have attempted many treatments without any success. It’s no mystery, acne is a huge pain! However, you need to realize that it’s entirely possible to clear pimples once you realize how to truly treat it.
First off, let’s take a look at why the acne treatment products you buy in the drugstores almost never work. It’s critical to know this if you want to get rid of your acne.
The issue with almost all of the acne products out there is that they are formulated to just cover up or zap zits after they are already on your skin. They simply act to handle zits one at a time instead of handling acne at the heart of the problem.
This is a big flaw! What’s the point of attempting to get rid of a pimple if you aren’t doing anything to prevent new zits from forming? This is a huge annoyance of mine and I see many individuals wasting money because of it.
You need to use a treatment that targets all of the elements that can cause acne if you want to clear your skin. There are four major causes: too much oil on the skin, acne causing bacteria, skin inflammation and plugged up skin pores. Getting rid of acne involves treating each of these causes.
You can’t find anything extremely useful in the stores, but there are acne products available that can actually clear your skin. The most effective acne solutions will target all of the causes and work like a full system to clear your acne.
You’ll be impressed at how fast you can obtain results by following this path. In less than a week your skin will show hefty improvement and quickly after your skin will be clearer than you may have imagined. It’s a fantastic feeling being able to look in the mirror and seeing the improvements.
Saying goodbye to zits is not only achievable, but it’s actually very easy once you locate the correct product.
Finding the best acne treatment isn’t complicated once you understand what to look for.
